Possibility of a Coup ?

Nope, it's however likely that Nawaz will make an arbitary decision & GHQ will refuse. That will be an interesting prospect given how strongly Pakistanis are opposing intervention and how shaky the govt is. Parliament can also fire the PM so he can go & fight himself in Yemen.

Ah I don't mind, it's amusing to be called an islamist. I just returned from a ban for insulting islam. On another thread, a Pakistani today accused me of being biased due to being a hindu (which I have never said I am).

bhai jaan

Sorry to hear about your ban. I don't know what happened over there.

you just need to learn a bit more about Pakistan if you want to write about us. That's all.

One essential ingredient in learning is to have appreciation of the subject and people you want to write about.

Without such appreciation, you will end up writing awfully ignorant stuff and thus a subject of bans and shunning and pooh poohing.

So please start enjoying and appreciating what is good about Pakistan and Pakistanis. Only then you will get an idea about criticizing us.

Same goes for Pakistanis. We too must appreciate what is good about India first. Only then we can really have an idea as to how to criticize Indians.

This is a strange dichotomy but still true if you want to learn anything.

Wow Bhai jaan.

These are strong words. Almost "encouraging" a civil war in Pakistan just to spite Saudis.
Strange!

How come you are so sure that Rahil Sharif doesn't want to send troops to KSA?
Please do not use Hamid Gul as your reference point.

.
Nawaz Shareef deserves a freakin vacation, he should put an auto-reply on his mail box for vacation and ignore all saudi calls from here on.

While I am sure the decision taken by the Pak parliament is correct.

My thoughts go to a different angle - & no trolling intended.

Given the fact that there are people in ME who would be smarting at the refusal and it would be seen a huge loss of face and ' back stabbing' by a group on people ( nations) who are not used to taking No as an answer. More so from a nation whom they took to be their backyard.

What are the chances / options of them organising a Coup led by hardline Generals in the Pak army to further the ends of KSA ? There are after all groups in Pak who would like to see PA intervene, such groups lose their relevance & funding with the Pak refusal.

I hope its an impossibility or a long shot, just seeking views / opinions.

Bhaijaan,

I did not write a thesis or critique about Pakistan or Pakistanis. All I wrote was one simple factual statement, that NS was the PM of Pakistan in 1999. To write that much, I do not need to be steeped in deep knowledge about Pakistani society or culture.

Three are words

and then there are implied words

And then the true intention of the writer of those words.

you are smart enough to differentiate between all of these. I am sure.

The chances of such an action ( a coup d'état ) are next to nil.

Army is looking out for Pakistan's overall interest and Nawaz Sharif consults with the establishment before making Public addresses. So rest assured , you all.

Not at all. Don't go by that joint resolution by the parliament. PA & NS are on the same page in this... & KSA will get what they want without resorting to any adventurism!

.
The chances of coup is nil in current scenario in Pakistan. As both Civilian and Military leaderships is on same page regarding the Yemen conflict. What ever decision comes, will come with mutual consensus.

Where were you Sir for so long ? and I would not rule out coup because things are going that way it can reach top level if commission declares elections fraud

NS is their man, they wont kill their own man.
you misunderstood
the point OP is making (I hope I got him right) that what if some hardliner generals topple COAS and then free the hands of Nawaz to send the troops to become cannon fodder for the ground assault on Yemen?

after all the army is pooled from same source pool of people who have TTP, BLA, LeJ, LeT terrorists among them. so if the inevitable happens this is why it will play out. since Musharraf time military has been purging such jihadi personnel but it will take as much time as from rest of the population to claim it is perfectly clear of such wahabi sympathisers.

.
Firstly, where national interests come in personalities do not matter .

Next a coup does not necessarily mean putting a man to death - NS himself survived one & lived to tell his story.
I did not mean literally... I mean KSA has some sort of levers in pakistan and NS is the biggest among them.. replacing him with a general is risky strategy... and can horrbly backfire.

That @Irfan Baloch; is likely to be a very protracted and painful procedure.

with NS being firmly in control(despite IK's year long dharna).. things are finally falling into place for him and his party... he is not stupid to throw it all away.. when he can wait it out and try to get a more pliant general.
We will have to wait and see how NS placates arabs.. cant simply go by public posturing.

KSA is not a fan of the Generals; generally speaking (except the Mulla Zia types), since they have much less "give" in them. Its the politicos who are fair game. NS is the biggest in that lot.
