After years of French controversies over headscarves, pork has become the new battleground in the nation’s uneasy debate over national identity and the place ofIslam. Bacon and sausage school dinners are being used by rightwing politicians to hammer home what it means to be French. Court battles and vicious political spats have erupted as protesters warn that controversial menu changes are sending a message to Muslim or Jewish children that to be truly French, they must eat roast pork. So what about vegetarian Europeans? Are they not dividing Europe?

Some people are just soo Islamophobic ....I want to see them feed the Jews Pork first or have the Jews also divided Europe? Or does this dividing shock only comes from people of a different skin colour, race and a religion called Islam?

BTW, since when is bacon french? I think French have become a VERY twisted and confused nation!

Religion has no place in public schools,why should we change everything just to make a minority happy ?
There arent soldiers behind every kid that threatens them to eat pork or they will be killed,if you cannot eat pork because of religion,or being vegetarian,then do not eat it. Is that difficult ?
It isnt the Republic that should adapt things for a minority....

Ideally in any menu you gotta keep some varieties right ? Some vegan stuff some chicken some ham etc ? I don't understand the fuss here !

I know many vegetarian parents that prepare their kid's lunch at home,then they eat it in school,no problems. If not,they arent forced to eat the meat that is given to them in the school.
Your religion says that you cannot eat pork,and the schools will not change anything for religious beliefs. The Republic's schools will not give hallalmeat to anyone. It is the alien that have to adapt to the Republic'ss values,not the opposite.

I am also talking on behalf of the Jews and the vegetarians because it is not just 1 religion or 1 set of people...It is a people who have made it a choice not to eat it...Whatever their reasons maybe!
