Population growth perils

Well let me say it this way. In the 90's I used to visit Pakistan often and in Lahore my grandfather bought property pre partition I think or around that time. Its Rehman Pura-Ichra old part of Lahore. I was there in 98 last and things were mellow and it was relatively relaxed. i went in 2015 after a very long time and well It was like a population bomb had gone off. everything had become tight and dare i say it resembled 3rd world Africa!

2nd case is Rawalpindi my Phuppi lives there and many other relatives but my phuppy lives very close to the bridge on nala lai. again was there last in 98 and in 2015 i went there it was absolutely unrecognisable. Filthy absolutely filthy same for lahore that area used to be cleaner because there was less population. My cousin who lives with her parents her son has had TB twice!!! because of the filth. TB to me is an extinct disease but not in Pakistan.

Visited Gujrat my mums family again heaving, unrecognisable and absolutely filthy.

Visited Chakwal and Jhelum my dad's family are from their again same thing.

In Pakistan there were two bombs tested. Atomic and population. Most of these people are young and in their youth they are going to be problems especially with exposure via the internet of the world beyond borders of Pakistan. When they will see other nation doing better they WILL question what has happened to their country. Something these politicians with one foot in the grave cannot understand who exist in the analogue age. Expect more problems not less!!!
Excellent post, I fully concur with each and everything you have stated especially the latter points, one day the youth which is getting exposed more and more to the outside world/ globalization due to internet connections and easier travel, is going to want to have it better, much better and they damn well deserve it.Kudos @Path-Finder and let us hope Hazrat takes heed of your post.;)

So population control makes women nude what sorcery is that?
@django @Spring Onion @The Sandman @Hell hound
Consider it an dyslexic post.Kudos

Hazrat @Zarvan is coming from the religious point and I am not going to say anything otherwise. Having a large population is not a problem IF it is managed properly. It is not a problem if there is Law & Order. No massive gap between Rich and poor. Rampant corruption and lack of education is minimal! Large population is a Problem an enormous problem but even bigger problem exists in the form of corruption, law & order, gap between rich and poor and illiterate people. Deal with these and population will come down automatically. There appears to be a link with over population and these things.

About 10% of the population are carriers, and about 3% (about 6 million) have active, contagious tuberculous disease.
global of local?

I think we have more than enough space for our immediate lifetimes yet how can we provide power, education and health diet , jobs (Robotic/AI/more advance automation revolution coming up) etc potential parents really need to focus on investing heavily in small sized families.Kudos bhai
No django bhai he said "Wait for another 100 years and that number will comfortably exceed the world’s current population of 7.2 billion. The effects will be much more dramatic after yet another 25 years — ie 150 years from today. Imagine that all 800,000 square kilometres of Pakistani territory is somehow levelled. Even so, there will be only room for standing shoulder to shoulder." It's a scary thought.

Totally concur and all the relevant measures (which so far we are not seeing) must be synchronized in parallel to achieve stable growth and prevent this problem from spiraling completely out of control, as for the theological issues, Islam urges us to be responsible so a chap who is unemployed yet makes his wife have child after child until she is no longer able is hardly acting responsibly.Kudos sir

Agreed !! Under the circumstances much better ... atLeast he doesn't preach his followers to strap a bomb on their arse and kill a few dozen ..i beleive he should be the president of this country

At present rates of population growth, Pakistan has a doubling time of around 25 years. Regardless of the religious aspects, just think about the consequences of such a high rate of growth, and how to best meet the challenges created by them.

I can only imagine what you must have felt like.

I left Karachi in 2008 right after the PPP government came in and came back in 2012.

My God, the city had become absolutely dilapidated. Ever since the nazims office was abolished and the Sindh gov. came in they completely neglected everything.

It felt like the people of karachi had become zombies, completely unaware of how bad their surroundings have become.

Things are better now though, Alhamdulillah
