I think Indian politicians are right about you specially muslims of subcontinent that if muslims are in minority they will call for secularism. The moment they are in majority this what you get a country like Pakistan.

First of all u get the history right. It was not muslims who called for secularisim but congress hindu leader like nehru and gandhi. Muslims always claim that islam has its own socio economic system and owned defined method of governance whereas hinduisim own teaching tells that its is a matter of individual and does not define socio economic peinciple.

On the matter of religious tolerance kindly note that the idol had no relgious significance as it was not part of any temple. It is of archeological significance.

Islam prohibits us from destroying temples of majority which is not done in the case. Islam prohibits us to bad mouth other religions which was not done in the case.

It is a simple case. Few illeterate mason found something like idol in the junk and they destroyed without knowing its archeological significance nor attacking any place of worship.

A simple example could be there are thousands of moswues in the world. Some of them get vacated ovee a period of time lets say due to flood. If no one is offerring prayer and it is in ruins and some mason destroy it to make road then should it even be a news ?
