Produced by the Military Mechanical Plant in Siemianowice Slaskie Wheel APCs Wolverine, fly out on Saturday to distant India. The country's army for many months has a very strong interest in acquiring vehicles that serve the mission in Afghanistan. So far, there have been sent more than 130 wolverines in different versions.

Go to India and the Afghan version of our vehicle, which is the most retrofitted and armored version of Wolverine. This will be the first time the Indian army saw it with my own eyes - says Michael Rumin, a spokesman for AMP. main purpose of trip will start talks with Indian representatives on the possible purchase siemianowickich wolverines. Intermediate target is a military fair DEFEXPO India 2012, to be held in New Delhi.

Representatives of AMP expect and there Rosomaks will enjoy considerable interest.

Within four days, we expect a number of delegations that come specifically to see our vehicle - Rumin said adding that the majority of them will be representatives from Southeast Asia that are also interested in acquiring boasting Siemianowice and the Polish army . - But for now I can not say exactly which country it comes - he noted. trip to Asia for the representatives of the AMP is not the first time. Previously, two went to Malaysia to promote its flagship product in the military fair in Kuala Lumpur in 2006 and 2010. There, however, failed to attract any customers ready to sign a contract for the purchase of wolverines. - These trips are rarely indeed a contract. Most are just presenting the vehicle to the public - marks Rumin. During the month stay in India does not provide any attempts to battle Wolverine. Its advantages will be presented only at the fair in the form of multimedia. It will be possible to see it up close, and even explore it from within. - This fact is not time to do battle to perform tests. At no time will come when you will be a concrete offer of a contract.

is it any good?

It's excellent news! IA has a requirement for several 100 wheeled IFV and tank destroyers and while the Patria is a good IFV in various versions, Rosomak also added a 120mm gun to it:

Also available is a 120mm mortar version with single and twin barrel, which IA has also an requirement:

So this would be a very good choice for IA in the nothern areas, which would offer credible fire power and much versatility!

What should be the cost per unit of each APC??? Wouldn't it be good if the order is given to DRDO to build a light tank in tune with the IA's reqirement by chipping in colaboration with private firms???

Make your own god damn weapons you got money now do R&D to get fruits for the future.
Buying is not a good option in long term :P

i dont see anything special in this stupid machine that cant be made in india. all i am waiting at this defence expo is the final design of amca . phuck everything else

How about this... you can also fit some Israeli system mounted on top of it. to make it more lethal. Stryker is one option but its way expansive. Why not make it as good as Stryker with less money.

Guys i see ideas spreading all over this forum. DRDO should do. Its good, but DRDO is already doing many things. its good if private company should start taking responsibilities in case of INDIA. as when it comes to order... numbers are huge. Country like Israel buy things 20 or 30 indian army will buy same may be 100 or 200.

more private less DRDO.

Absolutely, that sentence sums it up. But thereare some reasons for the fact that DRDO has done (had to do) the lion's share of the developmental work.
1.India followed a highly centralised system of planning and control for many years. This was modelled on the Socialistic system of central planning. Now its being discarded.
2.Most private businesses in India were created and run solely around the "profitability factor", without a long term industrial vision. Of course there were some exceptions like the Tatas who had vision and foresight a century ago, but that was overshadowed (even throttled) by the environment created by #1.
3.Defence production was being considered to be critical tech. so neither the Govt. or the Private sector had the confidence that the Private sector would deliver. And then there was the latent fear, that in case of failure; who would bank-roll the losses?
4.The Socialistic model had inbuilt financial and procedural rigidity, so there was just no mechanism to create and sustain Public-Private partnerships.

Now the environment has changed radically bot Industry and Government are more comfortable with each other and have understood the need for each other. So major changes are in process.

On a slightly unrelated note; some how there has never been too much respect for the concept of "reverse engineering" in India. While it has happened, its applications are few and far between. And is not publicised or trumpeted about much.
Except in the Pharmaceutical Industry, where a moral justification was found that it had to do with saving lives. Therefore that was acceptable and even publicised. But even there provisions of laws/procedures were exploited. So it was not so much "in your face". Even moral ideas can hinder growth of some sorts. Its a matter of perspective.
