What's new

PN’s 054A is more advanced than the PLAN’s own use.

HHQ-9 is longer.
What do you men by "Longer"?
Longer wait or something else?
Also if the HHQ-9 is export controlled; can't the launching system be added to the Ship, while the FD-2000B missile is used in place of the HHQ-9?

-------
Separately, The PN should go back and have the yard in Karachi Modify the F-22P to make room for upgrades. The Radar offered for the PN's Type 054A should go on the F-22P; in an integrated mast like in the Type 26 Frigates for the RN. The FM-90 launchers should be removed and replaced with a 24 Cell FN-3000L Launcher. The Aft Radar should be remove and replaced with 16 cells for LY-80B Missiles. An upgrade of the command and control room to integrate all the new sensors and weapons is also needed.

The PN doesn't just need new ships, it needs to upgrade the ships it owns and be able to make frigates as well as destroyer and corvette that can keep up with current as well as future demands. The F-22P frigates have room to be upgraded, and the PN should seriously consider that any ship can be in a crucial position in war time. Each ships needs to be able to do its best, for just the little more it would cost to upgrade.

In the future, The PN can build either the Type 54A PN Variant or Upgraded F-22P or Upgrade Azmat Variant per its needs. It can also export them in partnership with China, as any of these three designs would be decent for the weight classes; Decent but affordable Destroyer, Frigate and Corvette Respectively.

*** The PN should cut back on the number of Ships from 4 to 3 to spend more on giving the full AAW Capabilities. In the Future 3 more AAW Type 054A can be procured, as well as Upgraded F-22P frigates and Upgraded Corvettes.

What we are learning from the F-22P is that its alot harder to upgrade the ship later on, so its best to design in the capabilities you need from the start.

BTW here is the ship design; some of the missiles are European Fremm weapons but you get the design; especially the engine exhaust moved forward to accommodate the Aft VLS section

And here is the original design I modified it from so you can see the top view. BTW this is the mast that should be on the F-22P with the new Chinese radar on top of long range search.

Not Only can Pakistan source The Ship and its electronics from China, but Turkey is also a good source of sub-systems they have developed (for their TF-2000 Destroyer program) from their experience in the joint NATO Air Defense - Anti-Ballistic missile programs, and they plan to get the Chinese HQ-9 missiles.

The Command Information Center of the ship will have to be very advanced, and depending on which country feels comfortable exporting components, some kind of AEGIS capabilities will have to be made. It will have to be an upgrade from the Type 054A CIC to at least the Type 052C CIC.

China will export 054A frigates to Pakistan. Performance is better than self-use.

054A export-type frigate model, pay attention to its radar

In June this year, the Pakistan Navy announced that it would introduce four 054A missile frigates from China. On the IDEAS-2018, Chinese related units exhibited the 054A export-type frigate model. After the service, the ship will effectively improve the Pakistan Navy's combat capability.

From the relevant model, the 054A frigate's export-oriented main system and ship-borne weapons are upgraded, and the overall performance is more advanced than the Chinese Navy's own-use type. It can be seen that China attaches importance to this project.

The Indian Navy also uses roof radar

The most obvious change of the 054A export frigate is to replace the original Sea Eaglo S/C three-coordinate radar with the domestic SR2410C radar. The latter is based on the improvement of the Russian Roof three-coordinate radar.

The roof radar is a frequency sweeping array, which uses the frequency change to change the beam pointing, so the electronic countermeasure capability is affected. In contrast, the SR2410 radar uses a phased array system, which uses phase changes to change the beam pointing, and the frequency does not need to change. The electronic countermeasure capability is stronger, and the frequency sweeping array is gradually replaced by the phased array in the new century. This is the reason.

In addition, the SR2410 radar adopts an active phased array system to realize two-dimensional electronic scanning. Especially after detecting the target, it is possible to quickly turn the beam back to confirm, and it is not necessary to rotate the circle like the roof/sea eagle radar to confirm the target. Faster, it can better combat supersonic anti-ship missiles and saturation attacks, so it will be equipped with enhanced 054A export-type frigate combat capability.

Export-oriented domestic SR2410C radar

Above the model, we can also see the missile-illuminated radar, which indicates that its ship-to-air missile is still the Red Flag 16 ship-to-air missile, possibly its export-type LY-80N ship-to-air missile.

It is said that Pakistan has introduced the Red Flag 16-export anti-aircraft missile-LY80 anti-aircraft missile. Therefore, the 054A export-oriented frigate has strong versatility with the LY-80 anti-aircraft missile in terms of logistics support.

The LN-80N ship-to-air missile has a maximum range of about 40 kilometers. It can extrapolate the ship's air defense capability to the water antenna, which not only provides air defense cover for the ship, but also provides a certain air defense barrier for small ships.

The missile adopts the radio command plus relay inertial navigation plus the terminal semi-active radar guidance system. It has strong anti-interference ability and low-altitude interception capability, and can intercept the attacking sea-skimming flight target and supersonic anti-ship missile.

054A export frigate equipped with LY-80N ship-to-air missile

The 054A export frigate still uses two sets of square quadruple anti-ship missile launchers, so its anti-ship missiles may still be the C-802 series. These missiles are also large amounts of equipped in the Pakistan navy, including the Type F-22P Frigates and the Azmat Class Fast Attack Craft Missile etc.

In the future, the AIP submarine imported from China may also be equipped with its submarine-launch type. The PAF JF-17 fighter aircraft can also launch the C-802 airborne type. Of course, the 054A export-oriented frigate may be equipped with the latest improved version of the C-802 series missile. -C-802B anti-ship missile,

Compared with the C-802A now equipped by the Pakistan Navy, it has a longer range, from 180 km to 290 km. The guidance system has also been upgraded, and the active/guided composite radar guidance system has been upgraded from the active radar homing(ARH) for terminal guidance system. It is also possible to modify the radar/infrared imaging guidance system to improve the missile's strike capability and anti-jamming capability.

Anti-ship missiles may be upgraded to C-802B anti-ship missiles

The 054A export frigate is basically the same as the 054A frigate, including the 76mm naval gun and the Z-9EC Anti-submarine helicopters. These weapons are also installed on the Pakistan Navy F-22P frigates.

Therefore, the installation of these weapons by the Type 054A export frigate is conducive to the early formation of combat capability of the ship, and can also save the cost and expenses of logistics support, which is very valuable for Pakistan with limited economic strength.

On the whole, the 054A frigate exported to the Pakistan Navy has adopted the latest domestic technological achievements, and its overall combat capability has been greatly improved compared with the existing 054A frigate, effectively enhancing the Pakistan Navy's combat capability. The Chinese Navy 054A frigate will be Medium term overhaul in the future. These equipment and weapons should also be replaced during the overhaul.
I hope we get the 70 km LY-80N.

.
Borrowed some new techs from TYPE 055.i guess!

china already said

Pakistan is our Israel :D
Who said this,it is an insult to compare the hegemony of US and its minions to CHINA defense military strategies and its closet ally,we do not dictate and limit the development of Pakistan.
BUT i get what you mean bros.
Thanks

. . .
Strong economy,strong weapons!

That's what we are hoping for.

These are good models, but they don't fit our high end AAW needs. That is why we need something like FREMM-ER/FREDA AAW Frigates. Moving the Funnel forward (as in the Type 055) will make room for an AFT missile deck with long VLS Tubes. Even 16 Long VLS tubes on a Type 054A will give us the ability to handle a Brahmos Saturation attack far enough away. We can also carry Long Range Cruise Missiles in the mix or ASW UAV Missiles. The possibilities of a full spectrum defense come in with the long VLS Tubes and the Radar to guide the weapons within.

Freda is actually currently under construction, should be ready in 2019 and reach service in 2022

Here is the Flight Profile of the Brahmos. Engaging it or its launching platform are far enough away, when it is slower and higher up, make them easier to neutralize. If the threat becomes more intense, and whole squadrons of IAF fighters are just hell bent on knocking out the PN Frigates, then those 1000 ton Corvettes with 8 long VLS Tubes can also carry more FD-2000B/HHQ-9 Missiles, but we need the AAW Frigate with the long range radar and x-band illuminators to guide the way.

With the same VLS and similar radar, the sea battles could be as intense or more intense as the following: watch from 5:00 onwards

I really hope (as some reports have suggested) that china is working on a quad-packed medium ranged SAM.

If the PNs type 054A use the universal CN-VLS then likely they will be equipped with the 7M VLS Cannister. The HQ-9 will fit in there being 6.8m long . It is said that china is working towards quad packing missiles based on DK-10A. If they do, then having 16 HQ-9 and 64 quad-packed medium range missiles (40-60km) would make for a powerful air defense frigate. Otherwise i would suggest 8 HQ-9 AND 24 hq16 loadout.

I think, eventually, we'll see a long-range evolution of the HQ-16/LY-80. The LY-80 (ver.2/HQ-16B) is at 70 km, so it wouldn't be surprising if a 100+ km version comes down the line (with active radar-homing). The PN must have bought the Type 054A with the understanding that a good long-term evolution path is in place.
