I think Pakistan Airforce is professional institute we should not bring them into the discussion.
Its understood in past we had shortage of planes and assets , things are different now
Major air-forces of world operate their own fighter jet planes and large planes , so its no surprise that Pakistan Navy is moving in that direction. In fact , its rather continuing to operate their Fighter Jets that they already successfully operate.
Why does US operates its own dedicated fighter jets for Navy ? Simple , more efficient it trains certain pilots for special operations
Its easier for Navy to operate fleet of 35 fighter Jets , to protect air cover at seas , allowing Pakistan Air force to focus on protecting air space above Pakistan. Seems like a good idea
Pakistan Air force could also take part in sea based operations no doubt but its more efficient to give dedicated jets to Navy
Pakistan Navy deserves 36 JF17 Thunders equipped with anti ship and anti air weapons
The Air force's major objective
a) Protect Pakistan's airspace
b) Missions into India
c) Protection of strategic assets
d) Support for Group Troops and Tanks
e) Support for Navy's request
f) Nuclear Missions
If the Navy already has its own wing of 36 Thunders, its improves the performance of Pakistan Air force too as it has more assets to do its other tasks better
It really is a executive decision on part of Navy and Air force officials to decide what is best for National Interest. I am fairly comfortable with Pakistan Airforce's role and in any case the pilots from Pakistan Air force will likely take part in this role anyways
We can do this now - because we make the plane , we can have as many planes for Navy or Air-force as we want - THINGS ARE NOT LIKE they were in 60's or 70's
However , if J11 is in plans for Navy that is not bad idea either
