PAF is the most important arm to act as a conventional deterrant.

Hi,

Absolutely---for that reason they have got this worm in their head that they are the God's chosen ones and every body else is an inferior being who will be dispensed services at their discretion.

I think Pakistan Airforce is professional institute we should not bring them into the discussion.
Its understood in past we had shortage of planes and assets , things are different now

Major air-forces of world operate their own fighter jet planes and large planes , so its no surprise that Pakistan Navy is moving in that direction. In fact , its rather continuing to operate their Fighter Jets that they already successfully operate.

Why does US operates its own dedicated fighter jets for Navy ? Simple , more efficient it trains certain pilots for special operations

Its easier for Navy to operate fleet of 35 fighter Jets , to protect air cover at seas , allowing Pakistan Air force to focus on protecting air space above Pakistan. Seems like a good idea

Pakistan Air force could also take part in sea based operations no doubt but its more efficient to give dedicated jets to Navy

Pakistan Navy deserves 36 JF17 Thunders equipped with anti ship and anti air weapons

The Air force's major objective

a) Protect Pakistan's airspace
b) Missions into India
c) Protection of strategic assets
d) Support for Group Troops and Tanks
e) Support for Navy's request
f) Nuclear Missions

If the Navy already has its own wing of 36 Thunders, its improves the performance of Pakistan Air force too as it has more assets to do its other tasks better

It really is a executive decision on part of Navy and Air force officials to decide what is best for National Interest. I am fairly comfortable with Pakistan Airforce's role and in any case the pilots from Pakistan Air force will likely take part in this role anyways

We can do this now - because we make the plane , we can have as many planes for Navy or Air-force as we want - THINGS ARE NOT LIKE they were in 60's or 70's

However , if J11 is in plans for Navy that is not bad idea either

The J-10 has a naval variant. PAF and PN should start looking towards that. It's high time.

We are not going to get twin engine jets, so no J-11.

Remember JF-17 is supposed to be the workhorse support aircraft in the overall Pakistani military philosophy. If the Navy needs an airwing it needs a platform that is in the top tier of Pakistani inventory, not something designed to be the support role.

We should use islands as carriers, our coast is small and filled with them

no twin engine pls, (dont count your chickens before they hatch i.e. no A/C)

Thunders can play an important part to defend or keep an eye on the coast from gawader to karachi

Would the kind sir be referring to the strange little islands formed by the expulsion of sand into the Arabian Sea by the River Indus ? Otherwise , besides Churna and Astola , we do not have any ...

Islands as carriers? Why? What is the difference between a runway on an island or on the mainland?

Carriers are mobile, which is why they are useful as floating airbases that can move anywhere in the world. Can islands do that?

they cant float but island can be used for refueling and give us strategic depth in that area away from main Pakistani coast

Aerial refueling works too you know. The word "strategic" usually involves power projection over several thousands of kilometers, not hundreds.

Naval variants work best with an aircraft carrier as a base. Otherwise, land based aircraft can do the job quite well too with specific ordnance loads customized for maritime duties.

Sir, it appears that you are high on HYPERBOLE and low on LOGIC. Just cursing PAF does not explain anything. All three services of Pakistan Armed Forces face an enemy that has not only a Technological Advantage, but also has 3 to 1 Numerical Advantage, as well. All three services of Pakistan Armed Forces do an excellent job , considering their meagre resources and impossible odds. Maybe you will have more credibility if you could make some constructive criticism, instead.

Playing the "Blame Game " is not constructive, at all.
