PM’s adviser asks Senate body to ‘shut down’ PIA

Im at a loss for words at the level of incompitent garbage that rises above to lead us in this democracy, even when they are not thinking about corruption and are trying seriously to come up with solutions they still prove their utte incompitance by proving to be brainless degenarates not fit to teach 1st graders, a simple man can point out that no ammount of f ucking restructuring will ever work, the only way for state entities like pia to prosper is partial privitization, sell 40% of the airlines shares to a private invester and hand over the management to that investor without any govt involvement in administration whatsoever, be a silent partner and eat while sitting on ur a ss, a private investor will swiftly build the airline in to something huge to maximize his profits, its basically cashing human instinct to personal benefit, a brief example is sngpl, its a semi privitized insitution yet even with govt involvement in management and rampant corruption, its still a higly profitable entity, just imagine what it can be with no govt involvment in management...
Sir its not incompetence . the logical conclusion is that this corruption but we are easily made fools

PIA and scums working in it are national shame and leaches on taxpayers money. It MUST have been sold long ago.

Why hasn't anyone asked the question: Why is a government operating an airline to begin with?

A government should collect taxes, make policies, including foreign policy, and provide justice and security. That's the basic function of a government. I'm sure GoP is doing so well in all those areas that they thought why not operate an airline, steel mill and... a restaurant.

I don't see anyone asking this to British Gov about British Airways ???

PIA and Pakistan need to get rid of power show, people on position to make decisions, do such things to show their power...
Its not just Bloody PIA , its everywhere.. Even the guy who sell on cart, will do whats in his power ...

The problem here is you cannot clean the mess which you ignored for 30 odd years. Once the pride of the East Pakistani International Airlines was ranked among the best in the world and Karachi was a favored layover destination for people flying from east to west, much like what UAE now is.
With over 20000 employees most employed on political leverage in the workers union it remains impossible to clean this mess up without political point scoring or hoohaa.
In the mid 2000s much was invested in PIA with Boeing 777 inducted in PIA's fleet to somehow counter the decline but poor governance checks and corruption has successfully ruined that initiative.
We continue to lease out even the meals with most of the meals coming from Middle East before being loaded on deck to be served thus adding extra costs on route.

Having said all that it is Pakistan's national carrier and soon with Gwadar fully functional there remains a potential indeed much greater than before even. But there is a greater danger too that the Vultures of Pakistan the big shots, the Mians or Maliks or Sharifs or Lakhanis will buy this airline for its business and personal gains.

Interesting enough it was a civilian(Isphahan) who gifted his personal fleet as a token of love for the new nation. Have we gone the full circle already?

because it is the need of the day ... PIA was among the best air line the world ,,, it was being run by got at that time as well ... There are few dept. which are necessary for defense ... Anyways its something confidential that i can't share but selling or closing PIA is not the solution ...

Its not good to shut down strategic assets.

For betterment of PIA, privatize it especially its management and allow new management to sack unproductive and unrequired employees.
Secondly, put a ban on recruiting employees on the basis of political or anyother connection.
Inaddition to fire corrupt officials, strict internal & external controls and audits are required.
Lastly, training of flight crew and officials so they dont get involve in any doing which is illegal, and punish those involved in any kind of negligence or criminal activity.

Because the purpose of the Airline is to provide long haul, domestic, and otherwise unprofitable flights for Pakistanis.

For instance if I want a direct flight from London Heathrow to Islamabad, the only airline making that trip is PIA. The free market is not going to step in and take over, because its far more profitable/ economical for them to reroute or stop the flight at their own national hubs.

PIA can be made profitable, look at Turkish Airlines, during the 80's it was unprofitable, had a poor reputation, bad flight records etc. but the government reorganised it and refurbished it with a brand new modern fleet and new airport which helped develop it into the profitable airline it is today. PIA was at one time one of the worlds leading airlines, all it takes is some proactive efforts by the government and it can easily reach that status again in the future.

PIA lost glory is not in the hands of top management. I worked in Lahore and Peshawar airport and the whole infrastructure needs restoration, despite it is impossible to get results without political interference. But look who's talking? Mushahid ... Naam he kaafi he kashti me sorakh karne ko
