Times have changed because of social media and a plethora of private television stations (even if currently a majority of the mainstream media is blocking out the PTI).

The PMLN (and PPP especially) can't rely on being the traditional vote getting powerhouses they used to be in free and fair elections. That is why Bilawal is hell bent on overturning the PTI's election reforms, especially those mandating EVM's and granting voting rights to overseas Pakistanis - they know they'll lose and lose big to the PTI without direct and indirect rigging of the elections.

Oh definitely, the future is bleak for these parties if overseas voting and EVM's get through, but the current implementation is not something that can be done. THere is still a good two years or so before EVM's can be implemented on ground and tested and then generalized across a larger scale.

But even now, I do think that actual ballot stuffing has subsided to a great extent, with the advent of social media and such. With the establishment also 'neutral' now, the next elections would be interesting to see.

BTW, if you haven't, watch Sh Rashid's interview to Kashif Abbasi yesterday, he said that he is in contact with the establishment and has information, and the elections are going to be called in May. Let's see, aksar yeh banda phenkian bhi marta hai. N league has had to rethink it's election policy, in light of the wave of support IK has gathered, and almost everyone now thinks that elections next year are the way to go. If N league gives a budget, then you can completely shut the door for early elections.

This month will sure be interesting.
