The Chinese have a geographical advantage over India. Size and resources aside, most if not all rivers of India have their origins in Chinese held territory.

The dams threaten the north eastern region of India with both drought and flooding. Ignore the fool who says a Brahmos missile will take out those dams. If those dams break then the entire region would have a natural disaster on its hands.

The chinese are really behaving like mischievous devils here Mr. dragon. Unlike you they are verry annoying lizards who could not reach the level of a dragon. India does not have a proper counter-attack to Chinese "environmental warfare". India can't block Chinese rivers and does not have any alternate source of fresh water rivers.

From a military point of view India will have to beef up its quantity and quality. War with China in the near future seems more and more likely. Not the WW2 style war but localised low intensity conflicts fought over a confined territory. On the strategic level India will have to boost its nuclear arsenal and more importantly its navy. The only weak point China has is in its commercial shipping routes.

But credit to your countrymen. They have realised their weakness and invested in building navy bases along the Indian Ocean and also started a roadway from pakistan to China. But still India has the geographical advantage and a strong Indian navy will keep the chinese at bay.

But Thanks to Tibet which border with India, PLA can retaliate instanteniously against all you India civilian facilities as penalty for each civilian cargo you sunk, any cheap long range weapons such GPS guided rockets,artilleries can be used against India vital infrastructures but you will have to use your agni V to reach our coastal city in order to do the same.

Not only that India Navy will not have no place to hide, India will never be the sanctuary for your navy under DF-21D coverage, when ever our satellite spot that your warships. cargos or oil tankers are docking for resurply and refuel, then its will be all at our mercy..

Government to take call on green nod to hydro-power projects this week

NEW DELHI: The Environment Ministry is likely to take a call this week on giving a green clearance to Jindal Power Ltd for setting up 3,097 mega watt hydro electric project in Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh.

It is also expected to decide on granting green nod to two major irrigation projects - the Lower Penganga Inter-state Irrigation project in Maharashtra and construction of flood carrier canal project in Tamil Nadu.

These three proposals are listed for enviromental clearances before the 82nd meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Environment Ministry, which is scheduled to be held on February 26-27, sources said.

The committee is also expected to consider the terms of reference (ToR) submitted by Purthi Hydro Power for setting up of 300 mega watt hydro-electric power project in Lahual and Spiti and Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.

ToR, submitted in the second stage of environment clearance process, is a document giving a detailed information for impact assessment of a particular project.

The committee is expected to consider ToRs of other projects, including the one submitted by state-run SJVN LtdBSE 1.01 %, for setting up of 80 MW Doimukh Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh and the ToR document of the Uttar Pradesh government for construction of Badaun Lift Canal.
