I can understand the non resident folks talking such, but for home grown desis, it should not raise any eyebrows.

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received a phone call from his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, a day before latter’s open heart surgery in London.

Vikas Swarup, a spokesman for India’s External Affairs ministry, said on twitter that Mr Modi received phone call from Nawaz Sharif just before Pakistani prime minister is wheeled in for surgery.

He said the Indian prime minister wished Nawaz Sharif a speedy recovery.

Nawaz Shairf attended oath taking ceremony of Narendra Modi in 2014 to become the first Pakistani prime minister to attend inaugural ceremony of an Indian leader.

Modi paid a surprise visit to Pakistan and briefly attended wedding ceremony of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s granddaughter last year.

Relations between the two neighbouring countries became strained after the Pathankot Airbase attack in India and arrest of an Indian spy by Pakistani security forces earlier this year. Khulbhushan Yadav also confessed to orchestrating various acts of terrorism.

Prime Minister Sharif also presided over a meeting of the National Economic Council through a video link from London earlier in the day.

The NEC meeting considered the proposed Annual Development Plan (ADP) and the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The meeting approved development budget worth Rs1,675 billion for the fiscal year 2016-2017.

Prime Minister Nawaz is in London where he is to undergo an open heart surgery on Tuesday and doctors have advised him to take a week long rest after the operation.

PM’s sons, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz along with their mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, are also in London to oversee the surgery. Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on her official Twitter account that the surgery would be for perforation of the heart, a complication from an earlier procedure in 2011.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said the prime minister was continuing to oversee the state affairs in the days before his surgery. It is, however, natural and understandable that the prime minister will be off from any activities after the surgery, the statement said.

Was not expecting such a hypocrisy from him . Instead he should have address the nation and ask for the prayers of Pakistani people. Seems he has some hefty investment in India.

Instead of Pakistan Army taking over the reins of the country in its own hands, it should assassinate any PM thats deemed a danger to the economic security of Pakistan. They can make the assassination look like a medical death.

I do not know why people are soo mad (thats what the posts here suggest) about this phone call...... I guess they expect their PM to behave like they behave in this forum.........True that they have their own priorities for the nation, that doesnt stop them from having personal relationship...... I look at it in a positive way, where we have 2 PM's who are comfortable with each other and that reduces the tension to a great extent, not only that that put pressure on to the lower level of the ladder, who are known for hating each other and have been creating problems in the past.....

How many of us realise that there was very little issue between the 2 nation in last 2 years?????? There were 2 major terrorist attacks including that of a air base attack, and how was this issue handled by both governments?????

Ok to put another perspective, We all know Mushraff, and his priorities, He was soo Anti Indian that he avoided joining the Lahore drama, Because he had to shake hands with Indian PM....(he was planning a war at india that time, that is a different story), But after he became the President How much things change???? Was he still reluctant to shake hands with Indian PM?????? Infact He and MMS was believed to resolving kashmir issue.......

Let us stop hating the leaders just because they dont shout at each other........ At this crucial time, Let us join and Wish Nawaz Sheriff a successful surgery and Speedy recovery.....

Nothing different about it as people are overreacting, PM Modi tweeted about good health and speedy recovery for PM Nawaz and he responded to that. What is this all fuss about? Get a life people.

If Modi care so much for NS then the call was supposed to be from Modi to NS for quick recovery due to the so called illness whereas NS calling Modi, its entirely going in opposite direction
