AG withdraws request for Mercedes car - Pakistan - DAWN.COM
ISLAMABAD: After fighting his case for over a month, Attorney General (AG) Salman Aslam Butt on Thursday withdrew his request for a new Mercedes car for official use, sources told Dawn.

The AG office had initiated the process to purchase 2400cc Mercedes-Benz E250 sedan car on August 4.

The prime minister had approved purchase of the car on August 5 but the law ministry informed him that the AG was entitled to a 1800cc car.

On September 19, the Finance Division suggested: “If the Law Divisionconsidered (it) necessary to obtain certain clarifications, the case may be taken up with the Cabinet Division.”

The sources said on Thursday AG Butt formally asked the law ministry not to pursue the case for his new Mercedes car.

An official of the law ministry when contacted confirmed receipt of letter from the AG office. He said the ministry would process the request on Friday.

End of the matter? I don't think so, there are other ways to achieve the same goal which will be tried once the furor dies down.
