PM Nawaz inaugurates 1180MW Bhikki Power Plant in Sheikhupura

SHEIKHUPURA (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday performed ground-breaking of Bhikki Power Plant in Sheikhupura.

The Bhikki Power Plant will have a capacity to produce 1180 megawatt of electricity.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were also accompanying the prime minister.

According to s statement the plant will be commissioned jointly by Harben Electric International of China and American General Electric at a cost of 55 billion rupees.

It's a gas power plant. Based on the article below, two more have been announced under the federal government. What concerns me is its functioning. Pakistan will be running short on gas now that winter is coming, how will they manage to provide gas for power production once the projects are up and running?

LNG. This and the other two are part of the 3600 MW power projects to be based on LNG. IF, a big IF, PMLN manages to keep going with this energy mix, we will be out of this mess for good.
