PM Narendra Modi's plan to visit Israel is just dangerous for India's foreign policy

Right, Modi visits a secular, pluralist democracy (Israel) and this is him making his "anti-minority stance" more overt. He visits China (an authoritarian state with an appealing human rights record) and no one bats an eyelid? The Chinese trip was projected as an economic imperative, Modi's trip to Israel is both about economics and security.

A nation's Foreign policy should also be driven by sentiments of its masses.Apart from a few Hindutva terrorists here and there mostly people of India do not support Israel and its actions. There is a reason why a great thinker and economist like Manmohan Singh even while attempting to spruce up our relations with the West chose to ignore Israel which is beyond the grasp of some chaiwala with RSS training

Under the UPA 1/2 Indo-Israeli ties grew considerably and I have not seen any sort of anti-Israeli sentiment in India at all. Indians are warm to pretty much every nationality and India has been the number one destination for IDF personnel coming to the end of their tours of service for a long time now.

. .
The Israelis themselves are the ones pushing for more public relations between India and Israel and fair enough, they no longer what to be treated as the "mistress".

Netanyahu says as much:

India is powerful enough and important enough to the Arabs that it can enjoy close(r) relations with Israel and this have little effect on Indo-Arab ties. If Saudi Arabia is going to continue to prop up Pakistan then they have no right to be offended by Indo-Israeli ties.

MAST BOLA.

please post your views.

Well my friend. I dont think any Iranian members have anything against India for their close relations with israel.
India is not a party to the Middle Eastern conflicts. So naturally, their foreign policy is one of mediation and trying to balance relations with every country in Middle East.
Nothing strange about that.

Jai Hind! ;)

.
Iran and Israel have co-operated against Iraq in the past
huh ? conspiracy theory bro ?

no such thing . 9/11 was not an inside job either . it was saudis .

I dont think any Iranian members have anything against India for their close relations with israel.
of course not . not until it effects the relations between Iran and India .

as an example , india launched a spy sat. for israel some years back and its mission was Iran . that was very counter productive , but all in all , we want our cordial relations with India intact .

There is more to this than meets the eye , Modi is just making his anti minority stance more overt by such distasteful ventures
All sane liberal hearted secular minded humanity loving people of this nation should condemn this endeavor
I get it that we have defense deals and all with Israel but they will continue as long as we pay not to mention some high profile chief minister or union minister keeps visiting Israel from time to time so it is not necessary for the PM to go there and re invent the bonhomie

Modi should realize he is heading a Secular republic not some Hindu Rashtra

An apt analysis of Modi's real startegy:
Modi's Overtures To Israel Are Deeply Dangerous

I'm not quite sure whether you are being sincere, or posturing to make certain people look bad. In either case, please stop using the term "minorities", if you mean muslims. It's rather condescending. Call it anti-muslim stance, if that's what you think it is.

I think that was merely an economic transaction. If not us, it would have been the Russians. Launching of the sat was going to happen anyway. We just got some money and free advertisement for our sat-launching capability in the process. Anyway we won't sacrifice our ties with Iran even for the US.

you can do any economic transaction you want bro , you can launch 100 sats for Israel if you want to . but launching a spy sat whose mission was Iran is , well , somehow hostile .

believe me , our reaction would much much more harsher if russians pulled that .

its like using this logic : Iran launched pakistani spy sat just as an economic transaction . can you accept this logic ? i'm sure you don't .

anyway , whats done is done . lets look forward :)

regarding bilateral ties , in recent years all we hear is good news which is very promising .

We need to give an already good dish a little indian clove and chilli touch
Damn straight :D

unfortunately we don't have access to that here :(
