What's new

PM Modi to visit Israel later this year

1) Israel had welcomed Modi when he was unwelcome in countries like America. And back then, on his return he spoke glowingly about what India could learn from Israel. So brace up for some controversy after his visit.
2) Iran would have its reservations. Not so long back we had launched an Israeli spy satellite capable of surveilling Iran’s nuclear sites.
3) Netanyahu is a man known to add fuel to fire, and Modi & Netanyahu's bonhomie would soon earn Modi more "titles". His profile as firm and outspoken opponent of Islamic extremism is what won over the Israelis.
4) Ofcourse KSA and other GCC countries will also be alarmed at Modi's visit. Middle east is India's premier destination when it comes to exports and we get more than 60% of our hydrocarbons from them.

I'm not being a pessimist
but I think Modi government's habit of showing spunk might end up in a misadventure this time.
With all due respect you are being one. Modi is a strong leader and our foreign office is a bit mature...for years we have voted against Israel in UN and yet managed to have good relations with Israel...so this is nothing new for us...

.
its about time, we make this visit regular not a needless controversies.Above all no sane indian muslim should object, they are indians first muslim later, they are fully aware of importance of israel for india.

And as far as Middle-east countries they are no saint to preach us, whom should we keep relation or not

I think there will be more controversy of his visit in India than in other countries. Iran, KSA and GCC would not mind much because India is not a power in Middle East.

Great news. I was confident he would visit Israel, however I expected it to be later in his term.

India can and must learn from Israel if we are to thrive in a dangerous neighborhood

Iran will certainly have its reservations, they'll just have to live with it. By the way, has Iran ever supported anti-India interests or to be more specific Pak?

Netanyahu is a shrewd man, he plays hawk when it serves his purpose and he knows when to play to the liberal gallery as well. Titles from AdarshLiberals are irrelevant to Modi, he needs to maintain and grow his core vote bank, who support all steps towards making India strong and assertive. That is only helped by deeper relations with Israel.

Let them be alarmed, business is business.

If India can relations with both US and Russia in such times, I don't really see how this will create any real problems.

Ultimately, Israel is increasingly a critical partnership for India. They have backed us even when we have not backed them due t our silly Muslim appeaser politicians.

Finally as a side, waching Presstitutes and AdarshLiberals whine in utter impotence will be fun. :flame:

. .
Man it takes real guts to do this - even ABV shied away for obvious reasons , this was long due

That it takes guts is a result of the sad state of minority appeasement in India.

ABV was too conciliatory and non-confrontational. He should have visited Israel, particularly after Kargil, when they helped us out. That is among my list of disappointments with ABV.

This visit should churn out a lot of deals in defence and otherwise, along with entertainment of reaction of opposition in India.

More importantly, once we have a PM who has done this, it makes it easier for others to follow.

I wouldn't be that happy but careful.
Though...

@levina Yous should see the big picture .
Our foreign policy is matured .We are not that same India like that was in 1990s .
1.Narendra Modi knows the real value of Middle east and GCC .So a controversial episode would be a rare chance.

2.Of Course we have been launched their sats .But we also got the advanced tech for our RISAT.
3.India is a big market for Israel weapon exporters. At any case they need us more than the vice versa. So a stupid statement that can jeopardize our diplomatic relations would be disaster for Israel .I think they will keep a low profile during this visit.
4.We should more concerned about GCC and KSA because majority of Indians are in there not in Iran.
Of Course Iran is also a strategic partner of us. But Middle east is changed with new players like IS and other civili wars .But news are also coming that FM will visit Iran and PM will visit Turkey.

This is not a domestic Indian politics .A wrong move would be a disaster in foreign policy.

Controversy has already started . His visit to Israel is itself is first by our PM.At some point of time you have to brake the ice . After Narshima Rao , Modi is the only Indian PM with steel in him.
2) Iran would have its reservations. Not so long back we had launched an Israeli spy satellite capable of surveilling Iran’s nuclear sites.

So, it only further proves than when we have to choose between the two, whom do we prefer. Iran did provide their air bases to PAF in 1971 to keep away PAF planes from IAF wrath and I think you know about Kargil .
3) Netanyahu is a man known to add fuel to fire, and Modi & Netanyahu's bonhomie would soon earn Modi more "titles". His profile as firm and outspoken opponent of Islamic extremism is what won over the Israelis.
Even before arrival of Modi , Israel has been associated with India.

But do you belive in these conspiracy theories.

They don't give it free of cost. Don't get blackmailed into submission. If they refuse then we will look for other sellers. While middle east is on fire oil will be really cheap. Say thanks to blackmarketting by ISIS and various other terrorist organisations .

I hope those framing our foreign policies would be way way smarter than us forumers.Have faith in Doval, he has been pretty successful field agent for very long.

A balancing with Iran is must. We need Iran on our side. Probably a visit to Iran before Israel or, inviting Prez. Rouhani to India as this will be crossing a point of no return.

This also means we are on verge of some strategically groundbreaking partnership. Modi is mature enough and shrewd enough to not spend his political capital just to be bold.

Modi's biggest advantage as Indian PM is that he was the CM of Gujarat for a decade. I don't think any other PM in the past or future had or will have such an advantage. Modi was already in good terms with many world leaders before his landslide victory last year.
Back in 2006/2008, Modi was able to lure the Israeli business men into investing in Gujarat. It makes a lot of sense to meet premiers of different countries in the first year of his 5 yr term.
But so far India's relationship with Israel never made it to the headlines. So one wonders how the world would view this new development.
I'm not against this visit but I for one know that this gonna end up into a huge controversy....or may be I am just too skeptical.

Hindu haters burning. I never named you I said AAPtards. are you AAPtard?
Then why did you quote me???
