The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday conferred its highest civilian honour, the Zayed Medal (Order of Zayed), upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced on Twitter that UAE President Sheikh Khalif had conferred the award on Modi.

"We have historical and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these relations a big boost. In appreciation of his efforts, the UAE president grants him the Zayed Medal," he said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the UAE leader on Twitter with "utmost humility" and said that ties between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi had grown stronger under the crown prince's "visionary leadership".

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah also tweeted about the award for the prime minister, saying it was a gesture of "recognition of PM Modi's efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations, which has helped achieve our shared strategic imperatives in the best interest of our people".

Modi had last visited the UAE in 2015, while a Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid a visit to India in 2017, during which he was invited to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade.

Both countries had in 2015, condemned efforts ─ including those made by states ─ to use religion to justify, support and sponsor terrorism against other countries, or to use terrorism as instrument of state policy.

There are more than 2.6 million Indians in the UAE and their annual remittance is estimated to be around $14 billion.

First the grand Collar of the State of Palestine, then the UN Champion of the Environment, then the Seol Peace Prize, and now this.

Trust me. We Pakistani people will not be surprised by this.

This same so-called "medal of highest honor" has been conferred to President of United States, Russia and France.

These awards have been given often to the worst people: remember the UN peace award to Barack Obama.

What value this holds then to the people? An award given not on the basis of true achievement, but as another simply throw away diplomatic token, for vested interests. UAE was even more shameful to put the name of country's founding father on this thing.

History has it: people who deserve true respect and have earned it, will be always given by the people of the world. This man does not have that.

If anything, this should be an eye opener to Pakistani people. This attitude of so-called Muslim leaders is something predicted by our Prophet PBUH as well.

Why anyone would be hurt other then other recipients of these awards. Because once an award has been awarded to a terrorist,what value does it has left?

What recipients? Presidents of USA, Russia and France? They would find nothing wrong.

Oh, very easy. We reject Israel because it is a Jewish state taking up land of an Islamic State of Palestine, the human rights are just an excuse; we both know Hamas and Palestinian Government is equally responsible for fate of Palestinians.

So when this State adores our rival despite us providing unconditional military (Pakistan Army has offered free training to their selected cadets) and diplomatic support, while our rival supports their emeny.

It is only natural then that we should embrace Israel before the Arab world does.

If it was India, they would have been lynched and burnt, so far about 47 Muslims killed for eating/possessing beef, or on rumors, the kind of intolerance India is famous these days is unmatched, Pakistan is nowhere near.

28 people were killed of which 24 were Muslims from 2010 to 2017. This is despite 170 million Muslims and more than a billion Hindus. The intolerance claim increases with who rules the country I guess especially when BJP is in power. There have been 100's of communal violence before Modi ever step foot in Gujarat, since him, there is none. For the 17 years since Modi, Gujarat became one of the wealthy state in India today which came from rubble after the Earthquake and Hindu - Muslim violence.

Modi won in 2014 simply because of his performance in state of Gujarat and poor performance of congress. Not that most of Indians became Sangh parivar. So far on the economic front Modi's performance is stable. Pakistanis is nowhere near because you don't have a significant minority population. Unlike in India there are and people are extremely religious both Hindus and Muslims. Hence these kinds of issues may happen.
