There are much better ways of collecting tax. Nondiscriminatory tax not only is not going to help but will also impose more burden on the poorer masses than is required. Direct relative taxing is the only answer. Everyone will pay according to their income. Pakistan's is an absolutely defunct taxation system where the only person actually paying the correct amount of income tax is the one on a regular wage. The poorer masses are paying a disproportionately high amount of tax through indirect taxes while the wealthier Pakistanis are paying a disproportionately low amount of tax, again thanks to indirect taxation. This system not only does not generate anywhere near the correct amount of tax income for the state but also destroys the societal economics of its populace.

And you already know ex-pat Pakistan bring more money to Pakistan every year then all the so called industrialists you have. What does that tell you. It's people like you sat in Pakistan who are not pulling your weight but instead pilfering, stealing electricty, working in politically appointed jobs in PIA, or milching the system as FBR officials or enjoying fruits of corruption and then buying apartments in Dubai and London.

Building DAM is necessity. We have huge population and instead of waiting for people to donate voluntarily . They should ask every Pakistani to pay something for this project as per their financial circumstances. Every little help. Even poorest people in Pakistan can contribute 5 or 10 Rupees and more should be taken from rich community and if multiply with our population then its not impossible task

You're talking about a very few people here. Most Pakistani's are trapped in the system that was shaped over generations by our corrupt leaders. You can't blame the common Man of Pakistan for not "Pulling their weight" because you're not talking about a select few. Millions and Millions of Pakistani's are chained to the system because they weren't provided proper education, health or infrastructure. The Middle-Higher class of Pakistan even at their worst still pay taxes, create jobs and whatever infrastructure possible. These are the people from the working class blue & white collar society of Pakistan. It's because o them that the country is still in order so I believe its unfair on your part to assume that we're not "Pulling our weight" as a nation. What ex-pats brings to the table is chump change compared to the millions employed here taxed everyday in every sector.

Disagree. The entire effort of Pakistan's productivity as measured by the nations exports earns a figure not that much more then the remittances it recieves from ex-pats. Please tell me which industry or agribusiness or service sector brings in $20 billion dollars into Pakistan annually?

Even going by PM IK's admission about half of SKH donations came from abroad. 200 million Pakistani's at home balanced out by about 8 million ex-pats when the ex-pats would not even be using the services of the hospital.

As a Pakistani resident I stand with the PM to tax us directly and continue the sms donation campaign for dam funds also. Why you need dams when you cannot afford one. Are you going to build dams with worthless rupees? Wake up r, you need $. As a Pakistani resident you are just one of many useless beings in long list of 220m.

Without $$ soon Pakistan is going to face Zimbabwe like crisis with remittances drying out. They are no longer increasing at 15% a year to keep up with hungry resident Pakistanis import demands. Exports stopped increasing since last decade. All this will lead to collapse like Zimbabwe soon. Then no matter how much tax Pakistan collect, it will become worthless with each passing day.
