PLAN Third Type 052C Luyang II class DDG launched

Nope, Rolls-Royce is technically superior to any Russian made engines.

You should learn some facts mate.

For now, in term of the engine, it should be:

US >> UK >>> Russia >= China >> France
Are you saying UK has better military engines than Russia maybe because their development of FADEC, etc? Russian turbofans are superior in every mechanical aspect you can think of. There's simply no counterpart except with American engines.

RR can make military jet engine with TWR up to 9-10.

Don't underestimate those Brits, they can give up anything, but they would never give their jet engine industry.
Sure they would. The British are the little brothers of the Americans and I would bet money that the Americans have instructed them to restrict their military engine development to exclude engines for heavy fighters, in order for Americans to dominate here. Look at the history of British SLBMs. They cut their own ICBM program in deference to Americans after the US requested that they stop their development and in return the US would supply Britain with American made Trident ICBM missiles for British SLBMs. If that isn't giving up the crown jewels, I don't know what is.

Really is quite pathetic.

Their military strength can't get close to Russia, but the quality of their engine is far better. Russia got really screwed after the collapse of USSR, now they are at least 20 years behind US in the jet engine.

Their AL-31 engine has 700 hours of lifespan on the paper, in reality it has only 300 hours. This kind of product is considered as junk for GE/P&W/RR.

Therefore, WS engine family never took the approach the design of the Russian jet engine, their engine has really appalling in term of lifespan.

Probably but on raw performance the Russian engines are superior.

Yeah, but their lifespan sucks anyway.

They didn't come up with anything new since the collapse of USSR.

117S was accomplished by USSR, even AL-41 was designed by Soviet with nearly 30% complete.

British have alot of valuable experience on jet engines, they were also the first ones to make them.

Yeah, the experience is also crucial for making the jet engine. China now needs to accumulate more experience.

Some minor problems in our jet engine means more experience for us to deal with it in the future.

German actually.

But German military industry got castrated after WWII just like Japan.

If you're talking commercial engines, you have a point. If you're talking military engines, then mechanical performance is paramount above all else and Russian engines are second to only the Americans here. A good example would be comparing the Japanese Type 90 tank vs the German Leopard A4 tank. The Japanese tank is considered the world's most technologically advanced tank but the German Leopard A4 tank is regarded as either the best or 2nd best tank in the world because its mechanical properties are superior and would beat the Type 90.

Russia's development of its AL-41/127S turbofan is considered a 5th gen turbofan project not because it is technologically on par with UK materials technology, reliability, etc. It's because it's a power monster and will provide superior mechanical performance (supercruise) and superior acceleration for a heavy fighter.

German actually.

My mistanken memory. The concepts for it though were developed almost at the same time.

"Two engineers, Frank Whittle in the United Kingdom and Hans von Ohain in Germany, developed the concept independently during the late 1930s."

Frank Whittle actually have trouble convincing the RAF at the start.
