My opinion, Chinese government doesnt want to attack on the Vietnamese land border because some of the following reasons:

- China doesnt have any targets to attack VN on the land, or to occupy Hanoi. CCP does not want to overthrow VCP, because they dont want VN to become a democratic country.

- Attack VN on border land that doesnt bring big benefits, on the contrary it brings high risks while they are faced with signs of decline...
But the only benefit which CCP gets, which is directed Chinese public attention to foreign countries, instead of pressure on them.

- Chinese forces know their real capacity. China itself has been a victim of multiple invasions of Imperialism, and the Chinese never win to the foreign invaders who attacked their country.
And recently, even when PLA attacked Vietnam in 1979 with loudly "teach Vietnam a lesson", but the result PLA received a real pummeling by the girls of Vietnamese militia forces.....
