What's new

Pink Salt is no longer being sold to India or China in its raw form

Pakistanis could earn billions from selling Pink Salt by increasing prices many folds.

The only reason this hasn't been possible is because our elite or corrupt businessmen make profit by selling it to India for cheap. As long as their pockets are full its fine, who cares if it benefits Pakistan or not.

The blame goes on our government. They need to make sure our country resources are not misused. Imagine we had oil and gas, we still would be a poor nation if our elites were to sell them for peanuts in order to get their pockets full

I expect PTI inqalabi government to make major changes. Salt, Rice, Flour, Textiles, ICT, atleast give us something so we know that change is taking place.

PTI government was talking about this, and I hope we get more confirmation.

Thanks guys for the thread, dil thanda ho geya he. I was so upset why Indians and Chinese can fell our own Pink Salt to the West and make most of the profit from it.

I hope Salt lamps also are only allowed to be made in Pakistan. We need stricter control over our products.

And it is a shame that this hasn’t happened and Pakistani should demand from the PTI government why this hasn’t happened. Despite their big talk, PTI has proven to be as incompetent as the PML & PPP

Great point. PML N, PPP also make big statements and claims but no action. We need to see improvements in atleast 5 odd departments so that we know if PTI is given 5 more years then a true change can happen. Salt, Flour, Rice, Textiles, ICT, fishery is another great potential.

Yah sure. I expect to see "product of Pakistan" on every bag of Himalayan pink salt now. Somehow, I'm not holding my breath on this though.

.
Again, you are wrong. India has been processing and selling Himalayan Pink Salt from Pakistan and marketing it to the global market at premium prices, for decades. Nothing fundamentally has changed.

Please stop misleading readers since majority of the profit from this trade is going to Indian companies.

There are other “feel good stories” out there. This one is not it.
*And Branding it as an indian product....
Not mentioning pakistan anywhere.
Do your research

.
Why people put false news up. Feel good chest thumping xp or some other agenda ?
Pink salt still going dirt cheap to India as is Pakistani cement that cannot get laboratory certificates to be exported but instead sold to India as an open product and bagged right at Indian ports in their "Made in India" bags and exported for insane profits.
Stop being googlers and looking at fake "feel good" posts made by idiots to entice gullible patriotic Pakis to hit and read so that they can make a few bucks.
Get up and make some noise and pressurize the idiot MNA's and Senators and your "elected" politicians.
Talk the talk when you can walk the walk....

Surely if they had any common sense, they would do the value add themselves and earn 7 times more profit.. so where is the disconnect? Why don't they? Just sounds plain stupid?

There has to be some reason for this? right?

The question is have you been following your own link? The company selling the product is an Indian company https://www.amazon.in/sp?_encoding=...D=&seller=A1B8X69GP4LW9X&tab=home&vasStoreID=

Pakistan is still selling the Himalayan pink salt to India at dirt cheap prices and it’s India that manufacturing and selling the product throughout the world and earning billions. So it’s erroneous to suggest that Pakistan is selling to India at premium prices.

The sensible thing would be to shut out exports to India completely, eliminate their supply chain and have Pakistan export to the international market so it can reap the economic benefits. That’s not happening which makes your claim wrong and misleading.

Dude did you even watch the video?
Pakistan implemented the "Geographical Indication Law" in 2019.
No one can sell Pink Salt anymore without labeling it as Pakistani. That was the point of linking the amazon.in page. Why would an indian company selling something in india risk mentioning "Pakistani Origin" on its packing?

Besides, if you see on that product, people are complaining for the increased price, while on all other products, they are all complaining for the salt being mixed with sand or other elements. Why would that be if the exports were still on? Except maybe they have limited stocks now and they are mixing them with lower qualities of salt?
And the exports to India were also stopped last year at the same time. This video is not just by a random youtuber but by a well informed person. Watch the other videos he creates and how much research goes in every one of those.

Where is your proof for it being still exported to india on dirt cheap prices?
Just because it came from a YouTube source, so you as a lalu panju source of your own self is some how better than it? Or do you want to be taken seriously by labeling yourself doceinstein to feel special?

Well it pains me to say this but Pakistan's Establishment is corrupt to the core, and solely responsible for the poverty and suffering in Pakistan. Pink Salt is just one example, there are literally dozens of other items which these corrupt goons are mercilessly looting or don't give a damn. You would be surprised to know that there is one item/resource which is in short supply and even TESLA needs it, and it is in Pakistan. But these corrupt A-holes will either loot it or utter destroy it.

NA passes the Geographical Indication Bill, 2020
By RECORDER REPORT on March 10, 2020

https://www.brecorder.com/2020/03/10/578691/na-passes-the-geographical-indication-bill-2020/

The National Assembly finally passed the long-awaited “The Geographical Indication Bill, 2020" aimed at protecting ownership rights of goods produced in the country.

Due to the absence of GI legislation, international brands continue selling Pakistan-origin goods such as Paul Smith's Peshawari Chappal, Moroccan Ajrak and California Basmati, depriving the country to get premium on its GIs in the international market.

“Geographical Indication Bill moved by MoC approved by National Assembly today, took 14 years to get this law enacted. It will help protect our regional products and increase their export value. Great job done by Mujeeb Khan, Chairman IPO and his dynamic team," a jubilant Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sikhera, secretary commerce, tweeted, the moment the bill was approved by the NA.

The bill identifies the products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or reputation attributable to their place of origin.

These are generally traditional products that have gained a reputation in the local, national or international markets due to their specific unique qualities.

It aims to recognise and protect these products through legislation allowing the community of producers to get a fair value of their commodities, while preserving their unique identity.

The bill will help protect various products local to the country including Hunza Apricots, Charsadda/Peshawari Chappal, Multani halwa, Sindhi Ajrak, Sargodha's Kinno, Kasuri Methi, Sindhri mangoes, Dir knives, Swat wild mushrooms, Nili-Ravi buffalo, Chaman grapes, Pashmina shawls, etc.

The member countries of the World Trade Organisation are required to protect GIs under Article 22-24 of the trade-related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights agreement.

PAKISTAN: New Geographical Indications Law

https://www.inta.org/INTABulletin/Pages/Pakistan_7509.aspx

On March 9, 2020, Pakistan’s National Assembly passed the Geographical Indications (Registration and Protection) Act, 2020 (GIRPA’20). The Act, which was approved by the Senate on February 14, 2020, establishes a system for registration and protection of rights in geographical indications (GIs) in Pakistan.

Once a GI is registered under GIRPA’20 for the given goods, then the producers or operators (including traders) of such goods (that are entered in the GI Register as authorized users) will hold an exclusive right to use the given GI in relation to the good for which it is registered. They also will obtain the right to sue third parties for infringement of their registered right.

What’s that resource Tesla needs that Pakistan has?

What’s that resource Tesla needs that Pakistan has?

Graphite used as 'Anode' in Tesla Battery. There are other countries producing this as well, but Pakistan has one of the biggest untapped graphite resources. The goal of Tesla is to upgrade the existing battery to 4,000 cycles, and make the battery last for 1-million miles. This is only possible with using more materials including Graphite. The amount of graphite produced presently in China and other countries is still not enough for very large scale battery production. Pakistan can really tap into this and become probably the biggest producer of Graphite on the planet. Oil is the fuel of the last century, batteries are the fuel of today and tomorrow.
