It seems to me there is some vauge link between the two cultures and some interaction. Both Chinese and Iranians value education and both nations culture is considered the 'high brow' culture in their respective regions. Just as Tang China influenced Japan and Korea, Sassanid Architecture and political establishment also influence later Arab-Islamic civilization after the 7th century. Both Han Chinese and Persians are the dominant elite in science or commerce (in SE. Asia or UAE/Oman/Bahrain) and are resented for that. Both culture had their high point in civilization trampled on by Central Asian nomads, like Arabs or turkics in Iran or the Mongols and Manchus in China. Both cultures have an obsession with blue textured ceramics, think of the Ming Blue and white and Persian blue tiles and vases.
