Passing-out of Army Artillery recruits
Sunday, January 24, 2010

KARACHI: A passing out parade of the Army Artillery recruits was held at Malir Cantonment on Saturday morning.

Commander Logistics Area Karachi Major General Ziauddin Najam was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the parade, he spoke at length about the development of artillery as an effective arm of the Pakistan Army and urged the passing out recruits to show utmost vigilance and devotion in undertaking any task assigned to them.

He also gave away prizes to the outstanding recruits. ppi

Ah...my heart warms at the sight of young cannoneers beginning their first steps in the redleg tradition. More than most, artillery lends dignity to a battlefield that would otherwise be an unseemly brawl in the mud.

Love the M-46 130mm crossed-cannons in the background. Maj. Gen. Najam is one seriously big dude.

Thanks.:usflag:

Yeah Maj Gen Najam really is huge!

Well artillery; "The final argument of kings", that says it all!

The 130s are of the desert color, hope you have seen the ones in olive drab?

.
Nope. Only Finn 130s. Photos?

No Sovbloc weapon scared us more in the counterbattery fight...

Thanks.:usflag:

Well CB, one needs to be ready for it. You know you have given them the same shock when you were sending out the salvos!!

i love 130s blast and flash, beautifully dispersed and scattered.

Nice photo. North Vietnamese gave us hell with them shooting across the DMZ.

Neat looking gun section. Our guys usually have gun pits that look like a herd of wild pigs just ran through them. I like tidy.

Don't know if I'd have those rounds stored that way though. Found out that COMP B goes wooshy at about 170 farhenheit. Don't know how quick that sh!t heats up in your sun.

Do those weapons come with any thermal warning device?

Thanks.:usflag:

Well the pit seems to be hastily prepared, you must see the ones that we prepare properly. Looks more of a king's dungeon ;)

And yes the rounds, not a guud place to store them, but theses are the ones which would be fired, so these have been unboxed, cleaned of the grease and placed near the gun, and till the time they are away from the recoil line, it wont matter much.

Ofcourse they would be left out under the sun for long, prepared and there they go, catch it you talibunny.

We dont have anything 'electronic' to warn us, but we do make other manual arrangements.

Nah nah...

This is what i know;

Infantry is the Queen of the Battle.

Armor is the Kingy.

And in Artillery we say, we the King's pants a down and the Queen's skirts are up, there comes the artillery-as the final argument ;).

May be sir, if there's something i am missing, i'll love to know :)

Nice pics!

And the Direct Fire? Well if it's the Assault Fire that you are practicing, it still is INDIRECT FIRE technique, your gunnery have rusted i believe ;)

That was the lighter part, well on the serious note, Anti Tank Shooting have been the most enjoyable after Ricochet Air-burst Shoots!
