You my friend, are unable to get rid of your colonial mentality. For you, indigenous products are always and has to be substandard....even if foreign products are under-performing....
You guys leave no opportunity to criticize 'Tejas' even with its smooth track record so far(I shudder to think how much 'hungama' you guys will create if any 'Tejas' crashes in future)..... but surprisingly raise no question regarding MiG's quality/performance even when the planes are crashing almost regularly killing Indian pilots.......there goes your concern for the lives of Indian soldiers out of the window.
Quality has nothing to do with colonial mentality but consumer satisfaction. If you have the money will you buy a BMW or a Maruti Esteem? You sound like a jhola-wearing socialist who wears a Gucci/Prada but swears by Swadeshi. I have no problems with Swadeshi provided the said Swadeshi product can hold its own against the very best in the world.
No major international army is even interested in buying Indian goods. And this is true for every South Asian country. Do you think they also takes bribes or are they more worried about national security?
Why are you talking about Tejas? The Tejas is a third generation aircraft meant to replace the Mig-21s. In 10 years maximum the Mig-21 aircraft will become obsolete anyway. So instead of using a 3rd gen aircraft to replace a 3rd gen aircraft why can't you think of a better aircraft? The world is moving towards 5th generation, super-cruise capable, stealth fighter and you are still jumping about Tejas. The Tejas is good, but its age is over.
How can Tejas have a smooth track record when it is not even inducted in the air force?
Everyone raises questions about the Migs. The problem here is India has hundreds of Migs in the air force. If you retire all the Migs tonight IAF will be left with a few dozen aircraft. And given India's defence budget of 46 billion dollars India cannot buy aircraft from all over like buying groceries from the vegetable market. Armed forces have to work within a specific budget.
Tell me, which country produces a perfect product right in their first attempt??
Tell me how many countries are currently engaged in low-intensity conflicts like India at present?
Are you aware of the number of accidents/crashes the Americans go through while testing their products and even with their tried-and-tested once?? Do you know how many Americans got killed in those accidents so far?? Do you think they are less concerned about their soldiers lives and/or about the security of their country??....
Are you trying to say America has the same crash record as Asian air forces or are you saying that America has the same sort of air force like any Asian country?
And please don't even compare America with other countries. In America defence research is done by private corporates whose budget is bigger than Indian defense budget. America's defense budget itself is 700 billion dollars so how can you think of a comparison here.
America is fielding everything from SSN, SSBN, 12 aircraft carriers, nuclear powered aircraft carriers, AEGIS equipped destroyers, AESA radar, their own rifles, stealth bomber, stealth fighter EVERYTHING. The comparison with USA is not even logical or rational.
Even when people are giving you proof about Army's intentional sidelining of 'Arjun', you're in no position to accept that.....as I said, for you, Russian T-90 has to be better than 'desi' Arjun no matter what....
So you mean to say everybody in army is corrupt. They are worried about Russian bribes and hence compromising India's security by Russian T-90 tanks, which is respected by all, instead of buying world-class Arjun tanks that does not feature in any "Top 10 tank" list anywhere in the world?
According to you the whole army is corrupt and only you are honest and can see through the scams.
I'm NOT saying that DRDO is not to be blamed at-all or that it always provides 'up-to-the-mark' products but when proof of 'Arjuns' outperforming T-90s is there in the public domain and the Army still prefers T-90s over Arjun, then suspicion arises in the minds of common people......for uncommon, 'experts' like you, the matter is different ofcourse.
Who exactly said that the Arjun is outperforming? Did the army say that or did the media made it up? If the Arjun is so world class why is not a single foreign army interested in buying the Arjun? There is no sales embargo imposed in India. The army is busy marketing the Dhruv helicopter and it even has a buyer in a South American country. Similarly Malaysia had purchased Battlefield Surveillance Radars made by India. Nobody is least bothered about Arjun. Why?
Indian army if it was so corrupt like you allege would not have purchased the Dhruv or domestic Battlefield Surveillance Radars. Army buys products which are of high-quality.
I've no issue with Mr. Parrikar 'straightening up' DRDO, in-fact, that's what I want, along with 'straightening up' of corrupt Army officials....I'm willing to look at both sides of the coin, you guys are NOT willing to look at one side at-all, giving a total 'clean-chit' to the Army.
Answer me a few questions.
1. When did the Indian army issue a request for a domestic tank?
2. How many years did it take for the domestic tank to be built and ready?
3. In the many years between the request for a tank and the completion of the final product is the Indian army supposed to defend the border using tractors or buy foreign tanks so that its strength is not depleted?
4. If the finished domestic tank is weaker than the foreign tank already in service with the army why should army go for the domestic one?

India buying faulty MiG parts: Russia - The Times of India
For some top brass colluding with corrupt Govt. officials, I cannot say that the Armed Forces cannot be trusted......
The Mig-21 is a 50s era aircraft and obviously it is obsolete today. The reason Migs are still flying today because if the Migs are retired then IAF will be left with 10 squadrons or less.
