Parachinar protest ends after successful talks with army chief

The residents of Parachinar, who, in the wake of a recent terrorist in the town, were staging a sit-in to protest against the authorities’ “apathy” and “failure to provide them with security”, called off their protest on Friday after the army chief went there and convinced them that their grievances would be addressed.

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Parachinar.

He was briefed in detail about the security situation in the town and the recent terrorist attack there.

The COAS met with the area’s tribal elders and representatives of the sit-in.

The ISPR director general tweeted:

The army chief expressed his grief on loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack in Parachinar last Friday and offered fateha for the departed souls. Over 72 people were killed in two blasts in the main bazaar of the town in Kurram Agency.

Gen Bajwa said, “We as a nation have given unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism and we shall succeed. Our enemies shall never succeed in lowering our resolve or to divide us.”

Speaking on the occasion, the tribal elders expressed their complete confidence in the Pakistan Army and its leadership. They added that they stood by the security forces and would not hesitate in making any sacrifice for their motherland.

Very frustrating . They are asking for the deployment of Pakistan army and seal Pak-Afghan border. Now FC is also involve in killing locals. .... well hopefully COAS take some vital steps and seal Pak Afghan border and deploy PA on the border. So sad, instead Interior minister suppose to help them out , COAS is also accommodate himself as Interior minister. PMLn leadership and cabinet is sleeping .

If they have proves if innocent killed by FC than need to put strict actions.

This would be more helpful for peace in Kurram than anything else.

"COAS should ask THEM" them are the ones that lost family members, hence you blamed the victims. Stop deflecting.

If any int agency is actively operating in a region then it is the failure of the local intelligence and law enforcement agencies and not of the people. So stop blaming the ones that have been on the receiving end of it since the 80s.
I hope they don't end the strike.
Failure due to ignorance is a failure nonetheless, people should be fired and sacked for this.

Thank you for tagging. Yes most of these demands are fair and can be considered for meeting one way or the other.

Few are based on sectarian lines and emotions which is not a new thing and can be negotiated.

Until the blood border is open there will be no peace in Pakistan...Most of the demands are not unfair and can be handle ...some are repeated and some are very basic asking for army school and cadet college...

FC is not involved in killing. So far no confirmation as many sources as I checked with. As soon as there is some proof of the allegations I will post that.

Secondly law enforcement agencies be these police or FC or army at times do fire to disperse protesters so it does not mean they aim to kill particular sect.

This is biased, lame and propaganda usage of the situation by shias from other parts of Pakistan specially the Punjabi shias or those from Karachi which is harmful for the people of Parachinar .
