Pakistan's Looming Demographic Crisis

Unfortunately, Pakistan’s attitudes towards India often obscure the problem in Pakistan. On one hand, there is some belief that Pakistan can only challenge India with a large population; therefore, it is not in Pakistan’s interest to limit population growth.

Who the foOk writes this sh*t ?

.
But the Total Fertility rate decrease in Pakistan since 1990 to 2010 was much greater than even india.

.
Pakistan does have resources plenty to support a large population, but without careful planning and constant investment, such a population will be and is becoming a strain.

Agree. But even if we have the resources and have a careful planning for the resources and developing the human capital, we should still control the population.

We need census to determine exact population. Official figure is 186m for this year.

NADRA should be upgraded and made more better and accurate. There is always room for improvement.

Someone is suffering from Pakistani phobia.

A demographic crisis is indeed looming, no doubt about that. The way things are going, living standards in Pakistan are going to fall significantly and it will loose influence on international stage as well. It will become a weaker country in global affairs. We are already seeing signs of that. Pakistan needs visionary leadership. We need to establish long term aims.

many in Pakistan seem to believe that Pakistan is actually just growing at a “normal” rate but is being sabotaged by Indian dams upriver

Sorry never heard these arguments before!
From what I have heard, there is only one argument against birth control in Pakistan: Prophet (PBUH) asked him "ummah" to multiply. Now I am not an expert in religion, but I think this is normally taken out of context and people keep giving birth to children because they believe "Allah will take care of them" or I have heard this one also "every kid brings his own risq (not the English word risk)."

..why there is no census conducted in pakistaon about the polulation..n..?
what is their data? it should put to rest any confus

Pakistan’s current population is around 200 million people

I'm glad they mentioned that. You still see folks in denial mode coming out with the 180 million figure now and then. I suspect we have gone over 200 million now.

Pakistan does have resources plenty to support a large population, but without careful planning and constant investment, such a population will be and is becoming a strain.
You should not worry about that. Sooner you will see Jammu and Kashmir will be a Part of pakistan. Problem solved.

Lol.. Pakistanis don't die, they multiply!

but talking seriously, a lot of the povert is due to overpopulation.

Especially in South Asia. Infrastructure, unemployment. All because there is this culturally learned prudence about sex education.

No problem. Shift our population all over the world. South Asians will rule the planet.

Nah i'm kidding. You're right, but I'd say bad governance and corruption are the main culprits. You need only look at some of the least most populated nations on the planet in Africa and they are poor beyond belief. Population has some part to play.
