Pakistans Helicopters and other Vtol Technologies

.
^^
Pakistan is developing UAV Helicopters in the near future or it has already completed I saw a pic of the UAV Helicopter it was on the Ideas 06 show.

. .
Is Pakistan developing its own Helicopters and Gunship ?

India has one

Nope they operate AH-1's and will be possibly getting a new attack helo (I have a feeling it will be the same as Turkey recently purchased)

SA330 Puma helo's
AS350 Squirrel Helicopters
AH-1 Cobras
Bell 407 Light Transport Helicopter
Mil Mi-17 Transport Helicopter
Bell 412 Huey Transport Helicopter
UH-1 Huey Transport Helicopter

Plus the next gen Attack that I mentioned above. That's 200 helicopters (approx) and it is not including the various acquisitions (and current inventory) for the navy.

Why would they need to develop another one?

. .
why not
Technology is technology
What we learn will benifit us
I wold llove to see Pakistan creating its own Gunship and Helicopters

How about VTOL technology, ?

It's superfluous thats why. Development costs money and if at the end of it you have a product you don't need you have just wasted money that might be vital somewhere else. Plus you will be competing with established products. Indigenous is only of value if it can provide a similar product for less money than from imports.

If you are talking about VTOL jets then the only programs out there are the JSF and the Yak-141

Or the Osprey if it is still in development

China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) hopes to expand its cooperation with Pakistan in helicopter manufacturing, AVIC II general manager Zhang Hongbiao said here on Saturday.

The cooperation between AVIC II and Pakistan has lasted 21 years and will extend from joint research and development to aircraft maintenance, said Zhang on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia in south China's Hainan Province.

AVIC II set up a repair line in Pakistan in February for the K8 training plane, which was jointly developed by the aircraft maker's subsidiary in east China's Jiangxi province and a Pakistani company.

Zhang said helicopter manufacturing is AVIC II's forte and core business, but the company also looks forward to cooperating with Pakistani companies in making cars and wind-driven generators.

"The prospects of the Pakistani market are good," Zhang said.

A leading aircraft maker in China, AVIC II has produced 6,520 aircraft, 23,800 aero-engines, and about a million cars over the past 50 years, according to the company website.

Pakistan might start manufacturing Chinese helicopters somewhere down the line. One potential option include the Z-11 light helicopter to replace the Alouette III and Bell 206 in the military, as well as potential requirements in the police, medical and other civil services. The other could be the Z-15 military type, probably not before 2015-2020 - but it could replace the Bell 412EPs, Puma, Mi-8/17s and UH-1s - as well as expand the medium-lift fleet.

Interceptor,

Do you by any chance have that picture?

Yep,

Notes from the pic, EWI's prototype micro tactical helicopter UAV. It is currently still undergoing development but is likely to be operatioanl in the near future. A small camera is fitted to record and relay images back thereby giving troops a tactical recon ability.

Have a read and a look at the tech shown in Ideas.

ok gentlemen
first of all these pakistan have motto of self reliance but not single helicopter have been produced, but pakistan army has capability to upgrade most of western army helicopter like cobra,bell412,bell 212 ,skyranger and puma,
what i would suggest is that if we buy bell 212=bell 412 from saudi arabia and jordon and also from us which are almost useless for them and we can upgrade them and they will serve the purpose till 2020,in 2020 i think pakistan will be in more capabile position to have its helicopter.
at the moment there is no need of building own heli.
altough i must say that cobra must be upgraded to twin engine super cobra.
the point is not the heli its the arament it carries, like e.g if hell fire missle are installed on bell 412 it can out perform even cobra.
a good heli is no good with a good arament capability.

A lot has changed lately, new markets have opened up for Pakistan including Ukraine and South Africa and we have almost unrestricted access to European choppers now.

Even a better option is China, she has advanced lately and she's building world class heli's now.

So basically I don't see the urge to develop a homegrown platform in this field anytime soon, there are higher priorities and we need the funds to finance them.

.
^^
That would be a mistake if we dont evolve into our aviation field, I believe the country needs to develop into the field Helicopters because if you remember the earth quake in Pakistan, Pakistan needed a huge supply of Helicopters and it was short of them thank god forign assistance provided great support especially the US, so the conclusion the helicopter platform needs great funding so that Pakistan can indigniously build some for transport and other purposes.
