Terrorist organizations like the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been focused on destabilizing the country with their acts of terror, and they regularly boast about their criminal activities. The TTP on Monday claimed responsibility for the killing of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) member of Punjab Assembly (MPA), Rana Shamshad, who was shot dead along with his son and a party worker in Gujranwala's Kamoki area on Sunday evening.

While our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, this goes to show that these evil minds will cross all lines of decency and humanity in order to achieve their terrorist agenda. Additionally, Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism must never be forgotten. The brave nation of Pakistan continues to stand tall and refuses to bow down to these acts of terror. The nation’s will and resilience against terrorism could be widely seen during the recent tour of Zimbabwe’s Cricket Team. Zimbabwe is the first foreign cricket team to tour Pakistan in 6 years. All other major cricket teams have refused to tour Pakistan since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. It was great to see thousands of people come out to support both teams in Lahore because it also showed the nation’s resolve against terrorism.

It is imperative to stand united against those who continue to spread fear and panic though their terrorist activities. The recent gathering of thousands to celebrate the return of international cricket proves the people of Pakistan are committed to living in peace and will not stand for the deplorable acts by terrorist criminals.

The only known and accepted instances of India engaging in arming insurgent groups is

• Mukti Bahini - against Pakistani refugee influx and oppression of Bengalis

One thing world in general and terrorism hit nations in specific can learn from us is how unified resolve of a nation and military helps in fight against militancy. With the support of population, Pak military stood firm in testing time and their morale did not wither. Terrorists being a small minority in an otherwise peaceful nation of Pakistan tried everything low and savage be it killing innocent kids to whipping up sectarian and religious divides. Brave security forces of Pakistan took casualties but they stood firm because of support by a united nation.

What Pakistan can offer others in this aspect? Example I guess. To people of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya. If you stand united behind a national army then minority violence loving terrorists would not be able to hurt your way of life. In this regard, Pakistan, its people and LEAs stand as a shinning example to the world.
