Pakistan’s current account deficit shrinks massive 73% in July

If Pakistan took a page from the Philipines and trained healthcare workers in mass numbers, taught them English and sent them to the west you would have an export commodity.
It means you agree Pakistan has nothing to export except humans
And Imran Khan is doing what he promised

People /middle & upper class think buying expensive subsidised(by overvalued rupee) imported material is fundamental right ..this behavior is causing the poor class to suffer
This is exactly what i said and its something that majority of us practice day in day out... take the example of jeans and T shirts e.g. We will buy levis, splash and other brands but not cambridge, bonanza etc etc. same is the case with almost many things that we eat, wear and share. Its the show off nature, the inner complexes and obsessions that needs to be addressed collectively.

Pakistan produced edibles are mostly of poor quality except those produced by multinationals like Nestle so we need to improve quality to reduce demand of imported products.Clothing and other items produced in Pakistan as you mentioned are of good and satisfactory quality and there is no reason for us to buy such imported products
Its a mixed ball game.. we have a mixture of both but i agree that major chunk is below par. the very reason for that is the economics and ROI... had there been better revenue and a bigger market available to the local companies to compete in then the situation would have been quite difficult. Shabar zaidi and Hafeez sheikh need to tax imports more.... whatever is produced in Pakistan, its foreign competitors need to be taxed. things will start paying results in about 3 to 4 years.

buying is fine but dont complaint that you cant buy them while being on salary of student or clerk..
thus we need to super tax these brands and curtail all smuggling..
however, this will be a political suicide as fundamentally people will hate IK..
Pakistanis want to live on edge, borrow till the country collapses..
that is the problem..

people in united states cant buy expensive stuff....a police officer in USA cant buy expensive brands, barely makes his living but police officer Pakistan wants to go dubai shopping..(and does it)

We Should Try and Take Advantage of The Trade War Between USA and Everyone Else and Get More Industries Relocated Here.

Global Brands Like Acer and Sony Are Relocating From China Why Can't We Attract Them To Setup Export Industry Here???

What is Pakistan's largest source of foreign exchange? Foreign remittances. Are you going to somehow magically invent industries that can somehow compete with advanced established industries in other countries overnight? No. So go with what works. Massive shortage of nurses in the EU, Canada and US. Physician shortage in the EU. If we took our well trained healthcare workers, taught them english/german/french/etc and polished their skills you could have 100k people ready to go abroad in six months to then send back billions.
