Pakistan's 1st ever metro train service starts commercial operation in Lahore

. .
LOL!!! Many Indians have commented in the Lahore METRO videos earlier that there are no visible electric overhead wires as seen in India Metro like Delhi Metro and others, it means this is a Diesel run Metro train. How backward Pakistan is to run Metro on diesel...

27kms only. 10-12 billion $ subsidy from government per year. Yeh kaise “development”?
Although i am up for anything that reduces chingchis on the road.
Can't be that number. Where's your source?

. .
I too have doubt on numbers. But, generally public transport is hugely subsidized by government in third world countries.

It's 5.5 billion Rs. per year on this Metro Lahore which is about 3 million USD.

please awaam insanu ki turhan istaimal karna!!

Useless piece of infrastructure. Lahore doesn't need elevated tracks. Braindead PML-N thought hey when you look up its empty lets fill it up, and voila you get elevated train tracks. Take a look at the work they did in Lahore and you will find yourself cursing their Urban Planning engineers (if they did hire any). Just a peek at Main Boulevard and you'd be foaming at the mouth.

Until you have at least 5-6 lines with feeder bus routes, this is not catering to the majority of the population of the city. I'll still be using my car long after the trains have depreciated and discarded as scrap.

Why would Indian media cover Pakistani Lahore metro?

Here is the better coverage of same metro.

Frankly watching lahore in this video doesnt make me 'jis Lahore ni vekhya...' .
I guess the route is all through the low income areas , but still didnt look like a lively city.
Even our poorer crowded areas like old delhi have a vitality which is lacking in this video.
Islamabad in contrast does have some modern infrastructure.

Ya thought the same. I was hoping to see plush areas given PDF keeps telling me that people are quite rich. But it doesn't seem that way in this video. May be this metro is travelling through low end areas of Lahore. I was expecting something similar to Delhi.

This is kochi.

On YouTube ?
In the 15 odd metros in India, only 2 have the 3rd supply rail , rest are all with overhead wires.
Probably that confused them.
Is the opening of the Lahore metro being received with excitement in Pakistan or is the negative and indifferent sentiment present on this site reflected their too ?
In India railfaning is a big hobby and people cover trains extensively.
Being Pakistan's first electric train, sone amount of interest should be expected.
