Pakistanis mourn a once tolerant, relaxed nation

Noone knows about death beforehand. Taseer definitely got death threats many times. Even his own party members and ulema asked him to change his stance but he didn't. He got fatwas and everything but he didn't enhanced his security.

Inspite of all the resistance he faced, he defended what he believed was right.

I am not PPP supporter and i never liked Taseer personally but if for a change a leader shows some courage then it needs to be applauded.

I admire how he kept his stance on an issue he believed was right. However, was this him being ready to give his life for a cause? Going around with a hundred bodyguards wherever he went? The only thing I'm saying is that he wasn't a true hero for Pakistan or necessarily someone who was ready to give his life for a cause. He certainly did give his life for a cause he believed in, and I admire how he kept his position in spite of the reaction of many others, but he was still not a hero for Pakistan.

Atleast you admitted his bravery even if you don't consider him a hero.

However his security was limited. He didn't use his bullet proof car. Rather he went with his friend to the restaurant in his friend's car. He even gave lunch break to his security guards. Everyone left except one car of security guards. His security was minimum actually when he was murdered.

You do know bars and clubs still exist right? I don't see anything wrong with bars, it's not like I'm forcing you to come to the bar and get drunk or something.
Every Muslim country has a bar, I can guarantee you that. Even the country which you face to pray towards has a bar.

See thats the thing, i agree with u 100% - every muslim country has bars but that dosent mean its right to have them.

And as a muslim saying that i have no problems with having bars says alot about you - no wonder theres not a single stable muslim country out there when we have leaders who drink and bars everyware - do you really think allah will bless any countries that permits bars?

Yeah, Allah blesses all the non-Muslim countries enough so that Muslims can form mile-long lines outside the embassies of even near-bankrupt Western countries to escape to them. And once you get there your immediate instinct is to cut yourself off from the 'immoral' ways of the local community, grow your flowing beards, radicalize and dream of a burqah-clad, sexually repressive/repressed hell-hole you just left behind you.

You guys are so easy to predict and shoot down.

There is one terrorist incident then people are caught randomly in small numbers and then there is a littl epeace and then another incident. This is a game going on and on and on.

We need have a solid country wide crack down on militants if we want to have a lasting peace in Pakistan. Unless we have a full scale operation against these Jihandis that provides results, random operations will not get us anywhere.

No single stable muslim country? What about Turkey,Malaysia, Azerbaijan and Indonesia. Note I didn't include Arab countries due to their natural wealth.
We should follow the secular version of Turkey, it has gotten them pretty far. They are tolerate and also moderate muslims. Even look at Malaysia it calls it self a Islamic State but also is very liberal, it is a self made rich country. There is not much extremism there and they are tolerate even though their past is filled with corruption and loads of it.
We need to be more liberal and get rid of extremists once and for all.
