Pakistanis mourn a once tolerant, relaxed nation

secularist mohajirs are doing

Excuse me sir, if we point at each others like this, then this will result in what is Pakistan today, broken and avenful, we must be united, and do so we must not judge anyone by his backgrounds but from his heart. Pakistanis need to be united to get to the top, but alas people are stomping on others to Reach the top

ISLAMABAD:
Javed Ali remembers how bars and cinemas once flourished in Pakistan, and dance parties were advertised in newspapers admission price, 1 rupee. While visiting Karachi, Ali would go to The Moonlight Club, where dancers would entertain middle and lower middle class visitors.

yeah every Muslim country needs bars dont they - its the only thing that is holding us Muslims back

Guys:
Read all these points. This @Omar1984 is hiding behind appeal to Pakistan's nationalism by saying that 'lets not kill each other' for America's war while he is also persistently justifying a murder by using one or the other false claims.

He may call me a 'secular' Mohajir and ask me to go back to Uttar Pradesh because he thinks he is the 'real' Pakistani. Well, I have a word for him: Pakistan is my homeland. Born and raised there. And I consider people like him to be Pakistan's real enemies because these are the violent, 'educated', closet-jihadis Pakistanis should be careful about.

well said ... its this mentality not sure if its confused or on purpose is what pakistan really need to get rid of

one thing i done understand is, all u guys love people like taseer but in reality they do nothing for the poor man in pakistan so what can they do but get educated in madrassas? if these jokas cared about the people then pakistan could progress.

and by the way dont think that im a supporter of the Islamic parties in Pakistan because im not - even they are corrupt.

i dont understand your point, all im saying is that all the politicians in pakistan (bar imran khan) are corrupt

it seems to me that pakistanis like 'bayyman' people.

no one ever supports the honest guy in pakistan - its like its embedded in our culture.

i know someone who worked for kestral in pakistan and he told me from first hand experience that literally all the parties in pak are only out their to boost their egos and get more money.

for example on one occasion he was conducting a meeting to get defence contracts signed and all of a sudden zadari and his hench men come in saying that if you want them signed you have to go through us first (in other words he was asking for a bribe)

If I was Governor of Punjab, I would use my status, power, and wealth to help improve the lives of my poor Pakistani people.

He did absolutely nothing to help the common Pakistani person. He didn't even help his own people in his own province who were suffering in the worst natural disaster in the history of Punjab.

So why the hell should we consider him a hero?

He did absolutely nothing for Punjab and nothing for Pakistan.

Mate if you think you can help .. why not join Politics ... and help ur country .....rather than justiying a murder...

. .
Good question because i think that it is not easy to give up your life for a cause. No matter how bad the person was, you have to admit that he was courageous.

He gave his life up, he was murdered, but how does that mean he was willing to give his life up? Did he know in advance about the guard's intentions? Of course not! He was never ready to give up his life for this cause, he just happened to. It wasn't his choice.

but he didn't justify his murder, all he is saying is that people like taseer were corrupt who didn't do much for the people hence they should stop calling him a hero

It is an indication of tolerance in Pakistan, no one stopped a bar from opening and people from going there. It just represents the growing intolerance in these days.

He didn't justify a murder. He just told why people aren't feeling that saddened by Salman Taseer's death. It was because he didn't do much to help the people of Pakistan overall.

i know what he meant by it, but opening bars is a little too far dont you think? - even for a moderate Islamic state. Dont you think?

Noone knows about death beforehand. Taseer definitely got death threats many times. Even his own party members and ulema asked him to change his stance but he didn't. He got fatwas and everything but he didn't enhanced his security.

Inspite of all the resistance he faced, he defended what he believed was right.

I am not PPP supporter and i never liked Taseer personally but if for a change a leader shows some courage then it needs to be applauded.

You do know bars and clubs still exist right? I don't see anything wrong with bars, it's not like I'm forcing you to come to the bar and get drunk or something.
Every Muslim country has a bar, I can guarantee you that. Even the country which you face to pray towards has a bar.
