Pakistanis are happier than people in India: UN report

But jealousy is not a factor they measured. According to your own posting the rankings are based on below.

Per capita gross domestic product is 5120 for Pak and 6658 for India as per IMF (google if you want to check)

Life expectancy is 67.39 Pak and 68.13 for India

Freedom index Pak is listed as "partly free" and India as "free"

Corruption perception index by rank, Pakistan comes in at 116 and India at 79

In every measurable index India has done better or marginally better than Pakistan. so the entire happiness ranking is based on generosity and social support?

Indians have large supportive families too.

I call BS!
lol check your rating in corruption

I don't know if you have any education at all but on the off chance you do, I will explain one last time - please re read what I wrote.

The happiness index was based on 6 criteria. On 4 of those criteria India does better than Pak. Genoristy and social support are unmeasured.

Hence this hapiness ranking is most likely BS.

Suicide rate was not a criteria measured in that ranking under discussion.

I don't know whether you get it. So many people on PDF simply have no scientific education whatsoever....so maybe this just flew over your head.

Anyway, as you're happy, please continue to be, makes no difference to me. :azn:

There is another Happiness ranking called Happy planet Index where India is behind overall and in things like well being and ecological footprint .

Population density also plays a large part on how people feel. Pakistan does well in that regard. Just keep it at 200 million lol.

.
That's because it's excludes wealth owned by the National government.
In Gross National Income (GNI) index which also includes Government revenue India is ahead of Pakistan, India: $1590 & Pakistan: $1440

I don't see any problem with that . Both Median and Mean wealth for average Indian is quite below a Pakistani . Middle class form a much bigger part of our population as %

At present rate of growth, Pakistan's population has a doubling time of about 25 years, i.e about 400 million estimated by 2040-45.

Happiness is great wealth and Pakistan is land of Zinda dil people. Zindgi zinda dili ka naam hai. Its more to do with great social life and sense of community over there. Simple man lead simple life and has simple dreams but big heart. Robotic life dont make you happy

i see a lot of un-happy Indians here, so the report has some weight in it :P

.
Very unfair comparison, how can indians with smouldering coal bricks up their arse be happy? There should be some other measure to scale their ever lasting misery.

Pakistan has jumped up 12 places from last year in the global happiness rankings, indicating a trend towards greater economic and social well-being.

According to the World Happiness Report 2017, released on Monday, Pakistan, with a score of 5.269, is ranked at 80 out of the 155 countries included in the report. The 2016 report had ranked Pakistan at 92, with a score of 5.132.

Pakistan is now the happiest nation in South Asia, 32 positions ahead of India, and also doing better than all its immediate neighbors, except China. Pakistan also ranks ahead of several countries that are much more technologically advanced, including Greece and South Africa.

World Happiness Report
The World Happiness Report has been published annually since 2012 by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and is prepared by leading professors and other authorities on the subject.

The idea of measuring how ‘happy’ the residents of a country are, was conceived in 2012 after the Prime Minister of Bhutan proposed a meeting of the UN General Assembly inviting member countries to ‘measure the happiness of their people and to use this to help guide their public policies.’

How Countries are Ranked

The rankings are created using the average of three years of surveys. Each country’s score is determined by the following six key variables that are deemed central to determining individuals’ happiness:

  1. GDP per capita
  2. Healthy years of life expectancy
  3. Social support (as measured by having someone to count on in times of trouble)
  4. Trust (as measured by a perceived absence of corruption in government and business)
  5. Perceived freedom to make life decisions
  6. Generosity (as measured by recent donations)
While these criteria for measuring happiness are not all-encompassing, they certainly signal a step away from nominal income figures alone that fail to take into account the huge disparity within countries.

India's informal economy is much larger than Pakistan's.

Listen, i am not interested in starting an argument with you here. It is UN who is saying that Pakistanis are happier than Indians so go and argue with them not me.

And no credible institution has ever stated that India informal economy is more than Pakistan.

.

I seriously did not think that India is the MOST CORRUPT country in Asia! Oh well but then I also never thought that a mass-murderer could ever be elected PM or CM in India...

Anyway, it is good to see that corruption in Pakistan is declining! Keep up the good work, Pakistan!

.
It's because us Pakistanis have big hearts. We are world renownd for our generosity. Usually, those with big hearts are usually more happy...

While the other... not so much.
