Pakistanis are happier than people in India: UN report

Pakistanis have suffered so much in recent years, constant terror attacks almost daily have brought down the feelings of the people. But ever since operation zerb e azab things have crawled back to normalcy so Pakistanis are happier now than before.

Defeating Indian sponsored cross-border terrorism in Pakistan is no small achievement.

Only other example are Sri Lankans who defeated Indian sponsored cross-border terrorism in similar way.

Naturally we are happy that we are back on track for progress.:-)

Intersting, despite all the troubles that Pakistan has been facing, we are still far happier than Indians. In fact Pakistanis are more happier than few years back.

Thumbs up for Pakistan. Keep it up you guys!

For Indians: No matter what shining numbers you have on paper for your GDP, the inherent jealousy will always make you unhappy,

Pakistanis are happier than people in India: UN report

NEW YORK: Pakistan continues to be happier than India, according to the United Nations-sanctioned World Happiness Report 2017.

Out of a list of 155 countries, Pakistan has been ranked at 80 while India stands at 122. Interestingly last year, Pakistan came on 92 while India was placed at 118.

The latest report, produced by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), a global initiative launched by the United Nations in 2012, shows Pakistanis continues to be more content, while Indians, on the other side, witness further deterioration on several fronts including citizens well-being that majorly contribute to evaluation of the rankings.

The rankings are based on six factors — per capita gross domestic product, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, social support and absence of corruption in government or business.

“The lowest countries are typically marked by low values in all six variables,” said the report, produced with the support of the Ernesto Illy Foundation.

Norway has displaced Denmark as the world’s happiest country and the report called on nations to build social trust and equality to improve the wellbeing of their citizens.

Countries in sub-Saharan Africa, along with Syria and Yemen, are the least happy of the 155 countries ranked in the fifth annual report released at the United Nations.

“Happy countries are the ones that have a healthy balance of prosperity, as conventionally measured, and social capital, meaning a high degree of trust in a society, low inequality and confidence in government,” Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the SDSN and a special advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General, said in an interview.

The aim of the report, he added, is to provide another tool for governments, business and civil society to help their countries find a better way to wellbeing.

Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden rounded out the top ten countries.

South Sudan, Liberia, Guinea, Togo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Central African Republic were at the bottom.

Germany was ranked 16, followed by the United Kingdom (19) and France (31). The United States dropped one spot to 14.

Sachs said the United States is falling in the ranking due to inequality, distrust and corruption. Economic measures that the administration of President Donald Trump is trying to pursue, he added, will make things worse.

“They are all aimed at increasing inequality – tax cuts at the top, throwing people off the healthcare rolls, cutting Meals on Wheels in order to raise military spending. I think everything that has been proposed goes in the wrong direction,” he explained.

Wrong not believable . If true then It's seems sunny Leon is virgin.

Still long way to go but this makes me happy that after so much blasts terrorism and horrible incidents instead of that we go down we getting better. Our forefathers made right choice we are thankful to our Shaheed, ghazis and Quaid e Azam.
Congratulations everyone.

Isolation makes us happier ...

On a serious note, lower caste Hindus were happier under Mughal rule than under these current RSS Fascists.

Happiness is relative term. A poll or survey of selective sample of population can't speak for entire country.

A person with a Tata car calls himself unhappy if all his neighbors own BMW or Mercedes.

Where as a person with a motor cycle is happy if he lives area with neighbors having no vehicle.

In developing countries, the happiness of person can be measured by GDP per capita or Unemployment rate or Average Survival age. Get this statistics you'll know what's the real situation.

I feel bad for Indians. Watching just 10 minutes of Arnab is enough to ruin my mood, no wonder the entire nation is unhappy when they are blasted with propaganda 24/7.

As for Pakistan, the score is interesting considering the massive problems we face. If this score is accurate then its simply a great testament to the role of the military in unifying and providing hope, through its the continued victories in the War on Terror.

Pakistan has a large informal economy and experts says Pakistan informal economy is more than formal economy. After census, it is expected that Pakistan will rebase its GDP in the end of 2018 which will expose Pakistan actual GDP and its gonna be way more than the present one.
