These village councils are many times run by local waderas or some local elders, these people are on payroll of political parties mainly Nawaz Pmln league, these local councils etc help the political party gain votes from thise constituencies. In return Nawaz league or if there is anothe rpolitical force around (in our country no matter which party comes and how many faces change injustice remains same) pay them well. So in essence police is in their pocket, thes ecpuncil heads are involved in all sort of cruel crimes and they do it in daylight and they know , no police officer will ever dare take a co plain against them. In such scenarios the only hope these poor people hav os either take it too social media or get in touch woith media (news channels)

The system is so rotten that even if new political party will come likelihood it will continue ,idont believe even imrankhan will ever try to change it cause he ahs already inducted likes of waderas like mehmood qureshi and many others in his party for grater vote bank.

FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Police have arrested three suspects including two brothers in the gang rape of the 19-year-old girl after she had eloped and punished by the village council.

The incident took place in Tandlianwala tehsil of Faisalabad where Ruqaiya and Ghulam Farid eloped and settled away from their village after performing free-will marriage. Their families mediated the matter and brought them back only to put ahead of the village council or panchayat.

The village council had ruled against their marriage and kept Ruqaiya with them. The members of panchayat allegedly raped her for one month before she ran away to save her life.

The 19-year-old victim told her tail in a press conference after reaching her home. Her family awaits justice and appealed the authorities to hold the council members accountable.

The medical report of Ruqaiya confirmed the gang rape while DNA report from the forensic lab is yet to come.

Police registered the case and took three suspects into custody.

Meanwhile, another woman in Multan’s Seetal Mari area was gang raped by five men during robbery. As per details, the culprits locked a man named Zulfiqar in a room after tying his hands and feet, and raped the woman who was present in the house.

Yes, I entirely agree with you but as somebody who was brought up in the west things are not as 'clean' as they look. The number of young girls who are subjected to sex under drink is enormous. Peer pressure and drink mask what in fact is rape. Society has so sexulized the context that next morning women just pull on their knickers and accept "yesternight" as another bad choice. Then we have men in positions of power going around bumming anything with curves like Harvey Weinstien. Rape is rape even if has expensive scent of Hugo Boss as opposed to donkey dung.

But the difference is in west its considered a crime. In a lot of Pakistani villages its not considered a crime but a punishment.
That mentality needs to be changed through education. Crimes like this won't go away as long as all of us are alive.

A 19-year-old Pakistani woman has been gang raped on the orders of a village council for the "crime" of marrying a man of her own choosing, according to local media.

The Express Tribune reports that the girl was gang raped by three members of the council and that the local police refused to register her complaint:

R*, the gang-rape victim, said she and F* married of their own free-will two-and-a-half months ago. However, she added, the village elders and leaders did not approve of the marriage as they had married of our own choice.

The elders then called a panchayat, or village council, which ordered her gang rape. Three members of that council then gang-raped her, she added.

There are reports that police have arrested three men in connection with the alleged sexual assault.

Sadly, these crimes are common in Pakistan where more than 1,000 women a year are victims of honour killings.

Earlier this year Pakistani police arrested 25 members of a village council for allegedly ordering the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Of course nothing to do with Iran and Saudi... but rape is a crime and it happens in US as well.
In US and Europe, we come across cases, where girls are kept as slaves for years and if luckily case surfaced to news.
