Disgusting, the council members should all be tried and thrown into prison for life, personally I'd shoot them and harvest their organs.
The lady needs justice.

I'd sentence them to hard labor to speed up building the posts/forts on the frontline borders.

There is no doubt about it such shameless, inhuman acts happen in Pakistan. But definitely no newspaper will deny an incident that never happened. Pakistani media is one of the most vivacious, viciously free and diverse media looking for stories like an unbridled greedy dog. So it is not believable for me that none of the 100s of Pakistani newspapers and channels reported.

I was expecting already that police would have refused to register the complaint and i just reread first post and i was proven right. In these rural areas even police is with influentials and they are on their monthly bhattas and they refuse to register Firs against anyone mostly (it seems so) if its a crime against women

These village councils are many times run by local waderas or some local elders, these people are on payroll of political parties mainly Nawaz Pmln league, these local councils etc help the political party gain votes from thise constituencies. In return Nawaz league or if there is another political force around (in our country no matter which party comes and how many faces change injustice remains same) pay them well. So in essence police is in their pocket, these council heads are involved in all sort of cruel crimes and they do it in daylight and they know , no police officer will ever dare take a complain against them. In such scenarios the only hope these poor people have is either take it to social media or get in touch with media (news channels)

The system is so rotten that even if new political party will come likelihood is it will continue the same old way,idont believe even imran khan will ever try to change it cause he has already inducted likes of waderas like mehmood qureshi and many others in his party for greater vote bank.

For all social, moral and cultural purpose...Pakistan is is still a hindoo state which has adapted barbarized Hinduism..the Islam of Arabia is far different than Islam of Pakistan..the hindu backwardism lives deep inside us...just that it has dropped the safron color and adopted the green dye.

Indias largest diaspora lives in Arab gcc world and according to u arabs are most backward? Why live in backward countries move back home

In islam every part of a country is supposed to follow the law of state then how is panchayat system even valid? Plus girl married out of her choice ,is there any punishment for marrying on ones choice?

There is no western conspiracy. Even if family want to forgive girl, locals will not do and put pressure on family to act. Otherwise they are beghairat etc Locals want to set example for their own girls.

And I don't want to imagine what was going on in older times, it must have been lot more worse for women.

There's no official confirmation of this news, I don't know what's the situation with rest of the press of Pakistan.
Rape is an un Islamic act, to believe that any official or semi official authority of Pakistan can legalize rape is absurd.
I personally, reject this news as wrongly reported. While, every thing registered in FIR is not always truth.
As an example; Malala Yosef Zai accused both Pakistan army and TTP, creating the impression in foreign world that both Pak army and TTP are against girl education.
She even won noble prize for solely fighting the two giants, whom she paint with same brush. I personally, don't believe her accusations on army, simply because I'm a Pakistani and know what Pak army capable of and what not!
In same way, I won't take accusations in FIR as granted, unless investigation is completed.
I hope, when Express tribune were also able to record statement of girl on video and had names of village council and rapist!
Otherwise... it's just one of those Express Tribunes malign Pakistan attempts.

Media only highlights the worse....but in old times, educated, wise, experienced, reputed persons heads the panchayat not lije today when there is no panchayat but villagers do it their own.

May be rape happened, but I very much believe that referred village council is just falsely reported.
Some individuals connected to girl. raping her or ordering her rape not necessarily be village council. When it's reported by Express tribune, I take the news with pinch of salt.
