In PPP's 5-year tenure proud 5 year tenure for first successful government;

Number of death sentences issued: x
Number of pending death penalties before 2008: n
Number of executions: 3 (1 Army NCO and 2 Rangers NCO)
Something to think about?

Find the suspects, publicly execute them after burning their genitals. Leave this as a sign for others.

What is the worst crime in humanity? Nor murder, but rape. If you kill someone, they die. End of story. If you rape someone, their life becomes a misery and will haunt them forever, their dignity (according to themselves) is gone and they live a dead life.

Rape should have a bitter and painful penalty than murder. Let this girl be a symbol of motivation for women all across Asia by standing up against all odds and be another Malala Yousefzai in making.

There is a problem with making it a law to give death sentence if convicted for rape. Criminal psychologists have found that if the rapist knows that if caught, he is definite to be killed by the State, he will most likely kill his victim after raping her.

This is one of the foremost reasons that in India, the GoI did not make it a law to award death sentences to those convicted of rape even though there were public demands for it.

I personally think it should be life imprisonment for the convicted. Coupled with reduced sentence for those who opt for voluntary castration.

Unfortunately, rapes and sexual assaults in the subcontinent will not end no matter how tough the punishment. In many regions of India, as well as many regions in Pakistan, sexual assault of womenfolk has been used as a tool for social supremacy. Many castes in India, and many tribes in Pakistan have historically used this as a weapon to subjugate and control competing castes or tribes. Bihar and the nearby regions are the most notorious in India for such traditions. With such a background, many people don't realize what a horrific crime it is. While strict punishments and better policing can ameliorate the situation to an extent, it will not do so to any meaningful extent. We should start educating people about sexual relations, what consent means, why violating somebody's body is a fundamental crime, and a lot more, starting at high school level. Since we are so scared to discuss such things openly even among adults, I don't see this misogyny and sexual harassment and sexual violence decreasing any time soon, either in India, or in other places where such social ills are rampant.

But fear of death will stop most of the criminals before they do something stupid.

Fear of death is why rapists would always murder their victims, if we give death penalty for rape. If they rape but don't kill, they will hang to death. If they rape and then kill, they will get away easily.

But fear of castration will have the same result. So either way, the crime would go unreported, or without witnesses. :(

No, and here is why. If a rapist rapes a girl, and castration is the max he can get, he may not want to murder her, since that would invite the death penalty. But if the punishment for rape and the punishment for rape+murder is the same, then the rapist would rather do rape+murder than just rape, since that decreases the possibility of being caught, and doesn't increase the penalty if caught.

So if death penalty is mandatory for rape, that means it is always better to kill a woman you just raped. Because that carries no further punishment anyway, and actually decreases the chance of being caught. But if it is imprisonment and castration, then the rapist wouldn't want to kill the victim, because he will face death if caught.

So in short, rape and rape+murder shouldn't carry the same penalty.

The fear of unknown has always haunted human concious....for if capital punishment was in place, for the fear of being caught out, any would be culprit would think twice. !!
