I'm sorry brother but you are totally wrong on this.FWO isn't just a contractor. All the expense to develop these motorways would be beared by FWO/Chinese Companies and not a single penny by the gov't .FWO and chinese companies will own these motorways for a period of 25 years fully. They can even collect royalty from petrol pumps and restaurants that touch this motorway. They will collect toll tax on toll plazas too and earn form their service areas too.Very detailed reply, but it has been diverted to another direction. My point was that the government is making a web of motorways. FWO is just another contracter within Pakistan which is going to finance it for 25 years.
That doesn't prove that gov't owns these motorways.Gov't is the executive authority anyways, they can even seal any private factory too if it doesn't follows the safety rules and regulations and even a restaurant so it doesn't means that factory is owned by government.(The Chairman NHA while expressing satisfaction on the overall progress issued instructions to the concerned NHA staff and the contractor M/s SCORE (FWO) to ensure foolproof safety of the people travelling along the project area especially the diversions.)
Power Shortage was much worse in Mr 10 % Govt and electricity prices were also much higher during that tenure because crude oil wasn't below $40 per barrel at that time.Yet pakistan's exports were at a much better place at that time than Panama Sharif's govt.2. Don't even think that your exports will rise until your Electricity is cheap and you have power plus motorways to connect ports. It will take due time. Work is underway. Eyes can observe.
You are right that electricity should be cheap and available if we want our industry to grow.If i say that pakistan doesn't even have and had a power shortage then you would laugh at me but this's a fact.Pakistan's electricity demand even at peak times is 17-18000 MW whereas Pakistan's cumulative electricity production is 22000 MW.So you would say why doesn't gov't provide it to the industry and masses. The answer to that question is that most of the electricity is generated by IPP's (Independent Power Producers) whose payments aren't made by the government which is often called as Circular debt which is currently at Rs. 650 billion rupees because they are mostly fueled by gas and oil which makes them expensive as well as corruption and subsidies by gov't so as not to victimize their own voters costs too.
So what current gov't is doing to resolve this situation. They haven't started any new cheap electricity generation projects especially hydroelectric power projects and making the same mistake which Benazir did in 1994 of IPP (Independent Power Producers) policy. All of the power projects which are being developed now are also IPP's (Independent Power Producers).
Please visit PPIB(Private Power Infrastructure Board) Site whose link is given below:
http://www.ppib.gov.pk/N_upcoming_ipps.htm
Just a few are actually being developed by the gov't itself which are a continuation of previous govt's projects not even started by this government. So it means gov't would still be dependent on IPP's which would sell expensive electricity to the gov't and only thing which would change will be the companies.
4. Steel Mill and PIA needs to be privatised, ask the people who are against privatization because it is the only way to get rid of PPP employees in these organizations. They are always ready to hold protests, once privatization begins. And dumb people in this country will again bash NS for privatization which is the only way forward especially for these two.
1. AirBLUE is owned by Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and it's in profits while gov't owned PIA is in loss then what should we suppose now?
2. Panama Brothers were able to develop 27 steel foundries, paper mills, sugar mills, poultry farms, dairy farms, oil mills, feed mills, agriculture farms, steel mill in saudi arabia, steel mill in dubai and multiple offshore companies in uk starting from just 1 steel foundary while Pakistan Steel Mill isn't even able to utilize even 25% of it's total manufacturing capability. What should we suppose now?
You should ask the gov't where is the money going if they are not even paying the amount meant for electricity generated by IPP's (Independent Power Producers) when you and I are paying our electricity bills regularly which is often not even correct.5. Nothing to say on circular debt.
