A Pakistani navy ship named “PNS Zulfiquar”, commanded by Captain Amir Mahmood, paid a goodwill visit to Myanmar on March 10.

The objective of the trip was to promote military ties between the armed forces of Myanmar and Pakistan, and to strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

The ship manned by 28 officers and 275 crew docked at Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa (MITT), 25 kilometres south of Yangon, from March 10 to 13.

During the four-day visit, the commanding officer and crew will meet with Myanmar officers and they visit Myanmar’s naval facilities.

During the visit, aimed to help develop bilateral social ties, the Pakistani officers and crew will donate blood to Myanmar’s National Blood Donation Bank, and visit a high school to give presents to the students.

The Pakistani crew and a Myanmar naval crew will play a friendly volleyball match.

The “PNS Zulfiquar” is the first ship of the Sword Class F-22P Frigate Project. The Chinese-made frigate is the lead ship of her class, officially inducted into the Pakistan naval fleet in 2009.

The ship was attacked and briefly captured by Al Qaeda militants and rogue Pakistani naval officers in September 2014, then recaptured by Pakistani forces, according to media reports. The attackers had intended to use the ship and its anti-ship missiles to attack the US Navy Fleet in the Arabian Sea. Ten of the attackers were killed in the operation to retake the ship.

The raid raised fears about terrorist infiltration of the nuclear-armed nation’s military forces, according to the media.

Pakistan Military and Japanese Military have cooperated more than once, tho not usually heralded in news. I would like to see greater training between Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy with the Japanese counterpart(s). Pakistan probably has one of the most fiercely trained armies in Asia, with an impressive special forces group that is arguably one of the best in dealing with terrorists. Id like to see Japan send special forces to train with Pakistan Special Forces in their military academies.

Anyways, here is proof of our sound military links (albeit silent) :)

hehe, and Pakistan Army is impressive in its own right. Imagine, being able to engage the Indians through various wars, a nation that is almost 10 times the size of Pakistan. Still, the Pakistan Army proudly holds its own against the Indian side.

Talk about fierce ! Plus, Pakistan's role in combating the Soviets during the Soviet-Afghan War, i've read the stories of Pakistan Air Force shadowing Soviet Warplanes during that war. Talk about shear tenacity, man !

If you have time > Soviet Air confrontations with Pakistan Air Force, during Soviet-Afghan War.

Thanks for the link, Sir, will read this. Really impressive , Pakistan Military is one that doesn't take threats too kindly. To be able to engage the Soviet Union on one side, and at the same time holding its own against the Indians without giving up a single inch of sovereign territory.

Impressive, if i ever seen one.

Even the Indians did not engage the Soviet Union in such a way.

Exactly , and dont forget the Experience we are Gaining from this WOT .... we are fighting a Urban warfare from over a decade now ... there is much to learn from each other ,and event that happen recently between ISIS and Japan, i guess , Japan must be ready for Search and Rescue Mission , fighting a Guerrilla warfare , tackling the ISIS ....
Plus points for Pakistan will be that Japan conducts many exercise with Many Countries , so its a win win for both :)

The shear fact that Pakistan Air Force had the tenacity and gall to engage the Soviet Union just impresses me. While many countries in Europe and developed world would have wet their pants to engage the Soviet Union, a Superpower, Pakistan Air Force did so early on in Afghan-Soviet War. Even Soviet-backed India did not engage Pakistan during that period (Afghan-Soviet War), due to the fact that the Pakistan Army would have inflicted massive damage to Indian Army , irrespective of Indian Army's numerical advantage.

Damn impressive.
