Only two options for Musharaf. Either stay in Pakistan and face charges put against him. Or if somehow he manages to run abroad....and make his remaining life REST IN PEACE...One thing is sure...This is not the country which he left 5 years back...Waqt bari Zalim Cheez hay..:enjoy:

Gilani did anything different? He refused to prosecute the President and went to 30 seconds jail (within court) for it.

You have to accept certain things when you entrust people with national security.

So we have to accept that Musharraf can overthrow an elected govt because we entrusted the wrong man with national security? Secondly what has been done to AQ Khan BY Musharraf?

PA should be very careful, people are absolutely pissed due to security conditions (40,000 dead). Everyone understands that these terrorist attacks are a backlash of strategic depth. If there is an 'institutional fight' due to this case public will support the judiciary.

Is this the same man who claimed to have spent 1 night inside Indian territory in Kargil?

He reportedly also took a **** on the Indian side, whatever that has to do with this case :coffee:

If Musharraf even dreams of having the top job in Pakistan, he has to show that he respects the rule of law. Given his past arrogance against the Judiciary, this is especially important.

I can't believe people are saying he should be given leniency just because some other crooks got away with it. Reminds me of that famous video "corruption pey hamara bhi haq hai".

Your signature is very interesting....:what:

What do you mean by that Sir?

I knew this Pakistani guy in NYC who'd always say to such things, "Hun ay pi tay tenu katni pay gi".

I think anything more than the same punishment Gilani got, would bring institutions to clash. Make him saza yafta and call it a day.

On duty PM ka arrest hua?

On duty PM ko 30 seconds ki saza kuch soch samaj ke hi di thi. Same thing can be done to Musharraf. You have to consider national security.

Indian newspapers are all over the place... :D

I agree with you that laying the foundations of accountability for high ranks of our government, both civilian and military, is best done step by step like this. This way future leaders will know they can be called to court and convicted, and who knows, in the future, real punishments will follow too.

For now, baby steps are needed before we can walk and then run with a culture of accountability.

Yes if been born in India and living in India makes me Hindu...then i'm an Hindu....For you make that an INDIAN...even though i'm not Hindu or muslim...religion hardly matters to me when it comes to national pride...for me it's always India First.....and your ref about Lies...Just tell me who is in control of Kargil...just tell me that

National identity should come before any other identity. That includes religious identity and ethnic identity. I hope others on this forum learn this from you. Pakistan is all that should matter. Religion should become secondary as well as ethnicity.

Such an acceptance can be valid only if those entrusted with national security themselves do not make a mockery of the law.

So why cancel the bail? Is he running away? Are any of these individually brought cases addressing the primary case of treason? He will turn himself in, but the the awkward about turn by the IHC judge is also very suspicious. Why cancel his bail when he is trying to get his election nomination issue figured out especially when the bail has been extended on these very same credible grounds in the past? They know this clearly and this is becoming to look more and more like a campaign based on victimization against someone who has voluntarily come back to face these charges.

This isn't happening! It must be a nightmare! So said Mush after running away from the law to his farmhouse in a bullet proof vehicle!

From Hero to Zero! It's really sad to see his plight. I mean an ex army chief and president of a country running like a hen in a pigsty, being hounded by the law, and the TTP too! Coming back from self exile was perhaps a huge mistake.

Good point.

Perhaps there is some issue of immunity if the court waits after the elections?

This would be a permanent NRO. Army general go scot-free thanks to their position others serve time. If PA as an institution indulges in such behavior it will be regrettable and will only result in offending a common Pakistani.

Why single out the Army generals trying to help avoid the Country from being run into the ground? Who has served time in this godforsaken country of ours? Can you name me anyone? The certified thieves who loot from the poor and the wretched are running again and walking around freely yet the holding of the constitution in abeyance suddenly becomes a crime that is unforgivable. I know one thing very clearly, on the day of reckoning, people would not be questioned for holding the constitution in abeyance, rather they will be asked about how the rights of the people were handled. They will be asked about how they filled up their coffers with the wealth of the nation. This is the basis of justice. Not some piece of paper that we ourselves have crafted and make changes to as and when we feel necessary (there goes the false argument about the constitution being sacrosanct).

The constitution represent the highest law of the land.

Personally, I would hold someone who suspends the constitution 10000x more guilty than someone who steals a billion dollars.

Which mass murders? Has he been found guilty?

Ok for the sake of argument, lets agree on the point, so the next question, why not put the entire SC bench on trial along with Musharraf for abetting in the process and allowing the constitution to be held in abeyance? If Musharraf goes to the jail, his cell mates should include the CJP and those from his bench that signed the PCO. Are they not all guilty?
