Police arrest criminals involved in attack on Saudi Consulate

KARACHI: The crime branch of Karachi police has arrested four terrorists belonging to a banned outfit, who were involved in a grenade attack on the Saudi Consulate in Karachi, DawnNews reported on Sunday.

One of the members of the outfit was injured and arrested during a shootout in another incident.

According to the SSP crime branch, Farooq Awan, the police conducted a raid early morning in the Eid Gah area and arrested three suspects named, Zaki, Mohsin and Muhammad Ali Kazmi. During the interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed their links to Lashkar-e-Mehdi – a banned outfit – and admitted attacking the Saudi embassy and a mosque at Sakhi Hassan.

They also stated that eight target killers, arrested by the special investigation unit earlier this year, were a part of their gang.

During interrogation, they pointed out one of their accomplice in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The police arrested injured Asif alias Munna after a shootout in the area. The wounded culprit was shifted to a hospital.

Fourteen security personnel killed in Loralai

QUETTA: Fourteen security personnel were killed and six others were injured in a clash with miscreants in the Loralai district of Balochistan on Monday, reported Express 24/7. Sources from the Frontier Corps confirmed that Major Mohammad Amir Shehzad and a non-commissioned officer Dawood were among the dead.

According to the sources security personnel were establishing a checkpost in the Behlol area of Chamalang when some unknown armed men opened fire at them. In the ensuing exchange of fire, six security personnel received fatal wounds while the death toll for the miscreants is still unknown.

The check post is located near Chamalang coal mine, which has been the subject of fighting amongst local tribesmen in the past.

Security forces kill 35 militants during Kurrum clashes

PESHAWAR: At least 35 militants were killed in different areas of the Kurrum Agency, Geo News reported. Two security personnel were also martyred in clashes with militants.

According to sources, security forces conducted shelling on militants hideouts. As a result five hideouts were destroyed.

A lieutenant and captain were killed, while 12 security forces personnel were injured.

Forces kill 21 terrorists in Orakzai:

PESHAWAR: Security forces backed by gunship helicopters pounded terrorists’ hideouts on Monday, killing 21 Taliban terrorists and injuring 25 others in the Orakzai and Kurram tribal regions near the Afghan border, local official sources said. In the central Kurram Agency, security forces conducted a search operation and shot dead 11 terrorists and wounded 25 others in an ensuing gun battle. In the upper Orakzai Agency, gunship choppers targeted terrorists’ positions near the Afghan border and killed 10 ultras and destroyed five hideouts. app

Two army officers martyred in clashes with militants

Peshawar—Two Army officers were martyred and a captain of the Pakistan Army along with six other men in uniform were injured seriously during bloody clashes between the security forces and the insurgents in Orakzai agency on Monday. The forces, gunned down as many as 40 trouble makers and wounded ten others during ground and air offensives in Orakzai and Kurram agencies besides destroying half a dozen hide outs of the militants.

Reports reaching here from Orakzai agency said the gunship helicopters and the jet fighters continued offensive against the militants challenging the writ of the government in the region and pounded the hide outs of the miscreants in parts of Upper Orakzai on Monday which resulted in killing of around eight alleged terrorists. “The PAF gunship helicopters struck hard on the militant’s dens on the hilly terrain and destroyed at least five hide outs which resulted in killing of eight trouble makers”. Sources in the security forces said.

In the meanwhile a group of militants ambushed a security check post of the Pakistan Army at Eidgah road in Khadezai Tehsil of Upper Orakzai which eventually resulted in Shahadat of a captain and a lieutenant of the Army while eight others including a captain of the Pak Army were wounded seriously. “Yes two of our officers including a captain and a lieutenant embraced martyrdom in clashes with the terrorist at Eidgah Road in Upper Orakzai agency on Monday while an Army captain and seven soldiers received serious wounds in the bloody clash”.A highly placed source in the Army told Pakistan Observer.

The assault on the security check post was retaliated by the security forces with full might and the forces during operation in the surroundings and the forces eventually mowed down as many as 20 militants.

It may be recalled that the security forces have been in action against the alleged terrorists in Orakzai agencies for the quite a long time and the more than 60 militants have been killed alone during the last three days in military operation.

On the other hand in Central Kurram agency the security forces during operation against the insurgents have gunned down around a dozen miscreants on Monday.

Official sources in Kurram agency say the security forces went into action against the militants in Ali Sherzai and Masozai areas some 25 kilometers east of Sadda in central Kurram Agency and gunned down at least 11 trouble makers while ten others were wounded. The sources said the forces kicked off the operation in those areas on the night between Sunday and Monday and continued in the day as well. Sources said the security forces led by Pak Army also include Kurram militia and Tochi scouts and is supported by the volunteers of Peace Lashker as well. Reports say the operation in Central Kurram agency’s areas Neka Ziarat, Tali Kalay, Murghaan, Pakha Kalay and Dargaietc. was kicked off last week and during this period fifty people including 40 insurgents, few security men and five civilians have been killed.

It was reported that though large number of trouble makers have been flushed out of the area, dens of the militants still existed on the hill tops in Ali Sher Zai and Masozai areas and the security forces in the fresh offensive on Monday were backed by the gunship helicopters and the artillery that targeted miscreants positions.

Two officers, 47 militants die in Orakzai, Kurram clashes:

KALAYA / PARACHINAR, Nov 21: Two army officers and 47 militants were killed in clashes in Orakzai and Kurram agencies on Monday.

Another 11 army personnel, two of them officers, and 38 militants were injured.

The clashes followed an attack on a security convoy in the Khadezai area.

According to sources, the convoy was attacked from two sides. Capt Adnan Khan and Capt Dr Faraz were killed in the attack and 11 security personnel, including Capt Mohsin and Capt Adnanullah, were injured.

Other security officials injured in the attack are Naib Subedar Jalal Khan, Havaldar Dost Mohammad Khan, Lance Naik Mohammad Ghani, Havaldar Noor Afzal and Sepoys Ashraf, Ramazan, Juma Gul, Bakhtawar Gul and Bezar Khan.

The militants used rockets, rocket-propelled grenades and other heavy weapons in the attack.

Security forces launched a counter-attack during which gunship helicopters shelled militants` positions. At least 26 militants were killed and 13 others injured and four explosives-laden vehicles were destroyed.

The Khadezai area where the convoy was attacked is considered to be a stronghold of Taliban in Orakzai Agency.

The militants also attacked checkposts in Arkhang and Zakhtun localities in the Dabori area of Orakzai`s upper tehsil.

The gunship helicopters attacked and destroyed four hideouts, killing 10 militants. Security forces also continued search operations in various areas to capture Taliban fighters. Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Hafiz Saeed claimed that security forces had suffered heavy casualties in Khadezai area.

In central Kurram Agency, security forces attacked Taliban strongholds and killed 11 militants and injured 25 others. Heavy artillery pounded Taliban hideouts in Masozai area, destroying five hideouts.

18 militants killed in Kurram Agency operation

PARACHINAR: More than 18 militants were killed in Central Kurram Agency when army helicopters attacked militant hideouts during an ongoing operation in the area.

Talking to The Express Tribune, officials said that army helicopters targeted militant hideouts in Gawaza and Gwaki areas, which are considered to be stronghold of militants.

“Militants had established their posts and are were hiding there. Our helicopters destroyed seven hideouts and killed more than 18 militants and more than 20 sustained injures. We are still chasing them”, officials added.

Security forces have killed more than 90 militants in different clashes with the militants during the past few days.


Security forces launched an operation in Orakzai Agency in March last year, while the Kurram operation was launched this summer. However, this past week, security forces have increased their advance in both agencies.

Orakzai clash kills 10 Taliban

ORAKZAI AGENCY: At least 10 terrorists were killed and six troops wounded in a fresh battle in the Upper Orakzai Agency on Wednesday. According to the officials, the clash erupted during a search operation in Khadezai area of the Upper Orakzai, leaving 10 terrorists dead. Six security personnel also incurred injuries. The injured were shifted to CMH Kohat. online

KURRAM: Pakistani troops assaulted militant strongholds in the northwestern tribal region of Kurram on Friday around midnight, killing 35 militants and wounding 10 more, security officials said.

Four soldiers were also killed in the firefight, which lasted several hours. Militant sources confirmed the clashes and casualties but disputed the government’s death toll.

There was no independent confirmation of the battle.

PESHAWAR: Security forces assaulted militant strongholds in Kurram Agency on Friday around midnight, killing 35 militants and wounding 10 more, security officials said.
Four soldiers were also killed in the firefight, which lasted several hours. Militant sources confirmed the clashes and casualties but disputed the government’s death toll.
There was no independent confirmation of the battle.
In a separate incident, security forces killed six militants and destroyed two hideouts in Orakzai Agency.
A search operation was also carried out in the village of Paskalay where 15 suspected militants were arrested.
Security forces claim to have killed over 120 militants and injuring 40 in Orakzai Agency during the past one week. They also claim to have regained control of Akhund Kot, Chapar and Dapar Killay areas.
An operation was launched in Orakzai Agency in March last year, while the Kurram operation was launched this summer. However, this past week, security forces have increased their advance in both agencies.

According to security forces, in the ongoing operation launched by security forces against militants, security forces fired shells at the hideouts of militants, killing at least 12 militants and injuring 15 others. A hideout of militants was completely destroyed in the operation. The security sources said that militants in retaliation fired shells at the security forces in which one solider was martyred on the spot and three others sustained injuries.

20 militants killed in Orakzai:

Almost 20 militants have been killed in a fire-fight between security forces and insurgents in the Upper Orakzai Agency, Express 24/7 reported.

Sources said that during a clash in the Tasa area, a security official was killed while another two were injured.

Meanwhile, in the Gandi Taal area, 12 more militants were reportedly killed in similar clashes.

Several areas of the agency are still restive with frequent clashes between militants and security forces.

The operation in Orakzai had begun in 2010 in a bid to clear the area of militants.
