This is a pretty fluffy piece even by daily mail standards. If the baroness wanted to show that families from South Asian countries other than India are failing to follow in the family patterns of other British families, she could have demographic or census data, but all we have is her word that "Indians have taken on ‘the pattern’ of families in their adopted country" and that others haven't.

Reading the article this is pretty obviously the usual anti-immigrant hit piece by the daily mail, this time it seems they have someone who is ostensibly also an immigrant, but happy to push xenophobia. Worse part is this lady seems to be happy enough to score points for "Indian families" (her words not mine) at the expense of other immigrants.

Islamophobia has reached the level where all sort of closet bigots feel emboldened to wear it like a badge.

Sure doesn't, but pointing out that she is an evil Hindu, with a hidden agenda against Muslims, doesn't change the fact that Pakistani and Bangladeshi families have more kids and more of them are unemployed, when compared to Indian or Chinese families.

Surely her statement is not based on just hearsay.

This is precisely what the author wanted to convey, ignore the breeding mentality. The attitude to live on welfare payments beyond their means is what the intent is. Instead people forget the message, and blow a hole into the messenger.

Now where was she being racist here ? The only problem with the article is observations not being backed by demographic data, which i agree to as being a shortcoming of the article. But it nowhere absolves Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in the UK to breed large families to get welfare benefits. Secondly, it nowhere brings religion in.

I never claimed her religion was relevant, so you can stop playing the victim card.

As for Indians, you need to get off your high horse. The statistics for Indians are skewed only because of the recent influx of high-tech workers. Prior to that, most Indian migrants were not much different from other south Asian migrants.
