CAMDEN, N.J., April 4 (UPI) -- Pakistan's air force, through a U.S. Foreign Military Sales deal, is to receive defensive electronic warfare system from ITT Exelis.

Under the $54 million contract, ITT Exelis will provide its Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare System, which integrates digital radar warning receivers and advanced jamming countermeasure systems for protection against surface-to-air and air-to-air weapon systems.

Both internal and external systems are now in production, the company said.

CAMDEN, N.J., April 4 (UPI) -- Pakistan's air force, through a U.S. Foreign Military Sales deal, is to receive defensive electronic warfare system from ITT Exelis.

Under the $54 million contract, ITT Exelis will provide its Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare System, which integrates digital radar warning receivers and advanced jamming countermeasure systems for protection against surface-to-air and air-to-air weapon systems.

Both internal and external systems are now in production, the company said.

Under the FMS the external pod-mounted AIDEWS will be provided for 16 aircraft.

"This pod-mounted system brings electronic warfare technology to our customers at much less expense," said Rich Sorelle, vice president and general manager of the Exelis Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems business area.

"Since AIDEWS is being adopted by many of our international allies and is based on our modular and scalable EW technology, future upgrade costs are shared and affordable.

"Legacy and new F-16 aircraft fleets share the exact same components for internally mounted and external pod versions, significantly reducing the cost of ownership."

Its not exactly a good idea to act all mulla and completely cut off any and all trade with US. US has done stuff which Pakistan didn't like, Pakistan has done stuff US didn't like. The whole relationship is based on own's interests. Not every Pakistani blindly hates US but some of the foreign policies (which is also not desired by the whole world).

Your approach, however, to Pakistan acquiring advanced technology has its own hateful reasons

Why are you so worried about us? who the hell are you ? and btw watch your mouth always rememeber where you are and remember your place this isn't a indian site just keep that in mind i do agree that this courpt gov has no shame and non of us want them in power but next time write what you are writting in a bit more detail. This EW system is tied to F16 systems so we need these capabilities to take full advantage of our F16's. These F16's are our first line of defense against Indian Sukhoi 30 MKI's. Our exposure to these advanced EW systems also gives us the necessary experience to develop our own EW systems, which is our ultimate goal. Also till our J-10B's come in by 2014/15, we are still dependent on F16's for our Defence.

We have progressively reduced our dependence on US weapons and systems and have started to ramp up integrating Chinese equipment. But in doing so we still have to plug in some Gaps, as our chinese friends catch up with the Western and Russian Technology. Just dropping all US side weapons in our current inventory and going " Cold Turkey " will not be prudent strategy as it will leave weaknesses in our military capability viz a viz Indian forces.

1- These pods will enhance the operations spectrum for F-16s, While F-16s can blind the enemy radars, JFTs can chip in as Wild Wiesels. Though JFT has its own dedicated EW suit, which i think,would not be mate-able with F-16s. Apparently PAF is looking for diverse equipment for F-16s. BVR,PGA,Recce and now EW. I think its a good move.

Obviously, the decision makers are more knowledgeable in these matters than armchair warriors like yourself. Have some faith in our Air force Planners and I can assure they know what they are doing.
