Featured Pakistan will proceed on Kashmir issue with or without Saudi Arabia : SM Qureshi

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday thanked Mahathir Mohamad for again speaking in support of the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, as the former Malaysian prime minister vowed to continue to raise the issue of New Delhi's "injustices" in the disputed region.

"I want to thank Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad for speaking in support of Kashmiris and against Indian repression in IIOJK (Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir) — this time at a function on 8 Aug to mark a year of the illegal Indian actions in IIOJK," Imran wrote on Twitter

His statement followed a series of tweets by nonagenarian Mahathir, who defended his right to speak up against India's human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, saying doing so would be to "stand up for humanity".

"I had chosen to speak out despite being aware of the potential backlash," Mahathir, 95, wrote, referring to his remarks at last year's United Nations General Assembly where he criticised India's "invasion" of occupied Kashmir. His criticism led to backlash from India, Malaysia's largest importer of palm oil, in the form of order cancellations and import bans.

On Friday, Mahathir in an interview with WION news outlet admitted that relations between Malaysia and India had deteriorated because of his comments on Kashmir.
"To my mind, keeping quiet is not an option when all the tell-tale signs were pointing towards another situation whereby a big and powerful country imposed its will with impunity on a small and defenceless nation," he tweeted, referring to India's repression in occupied Kashmir.
Mahathir, who announced on Friday he was setting up a new political party as he seeks to take on the government, said the developments that transpired following his "contentious speech" at the UNGA "only served to prove that what I had said [was] mild and to a certain degree, restrained".

"I offer no apology for what I had said though I am sorry that it had affected our palm oil export to India. I don’t know if that is a high price to pay for speaking out against such injustices," he added.
He said now that he is no longer the prime minister "I take it that I can now speak without restrain and address the Kashmir issue without threats of boycotts and such".

Mahathir, the world’s oldest leader until his resignation in February, suggested he would speak about the issue at an event in Kuala Lumpur about “Kashmir's one year lockdown since August 5, 2019".

His remarks come three days after Pakistan observed Yaum-i-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) on August 5 to mark one year since India revoked the semi-autonomous status of occupied Kashmir, split it into two federal territories and imposed strict movement restrictions and a communication blockade in the region.

Speaking at the UNGA in September, Mahathir had said that despite UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, the territory had been invaded and occupied.

“There may be reasons for this action but it is still wrong. The problem must be solved by peaceful means. India should work with Pakistan to resolve this problem,” he had stressed.

He had also criticised a new citizenship law in India that excludes Muslim immigrants. In retaliation for his comments, India, the biggest buyer of Malaysian palm oil for five years, put curbs in January on purchases from Kuala Lumpur.

Mahathir had later defended his criticism of India, saying although Malaysia was concerned about India’s curbs on imports of palm oil after the diplomatic row, he would continue to speak out against “wrong things” even if it cost his country financially.

And, to repeat: You are deluded to think that Musharraf had any choice in the Fall of 2001.
You are too narrow minded to believe or maybe you have one eye only
It were the bigots like Zia who turned it to a Wahabi brand of Islam.

Deobandis. They all are deobandis.

Wahabis are a tiny majority in Pakistan.

I have memories from the Fall of Dhaka to this day! I have seen how Pakistan was transformed after 1979 to where it became until Musharraf started undoing the damage of Zia ul Haq.

That may be your personal story then cause they were burning women right up till the 80s and raping at will.

All Musharraf has given are mosque dancers on Indian sponsored TV channels masquerading Hindiusm as Sufism.

Firstly, my apologies for being rude in my comment to you above. I should have pointed out in a different way your enigmatic one liner statements like this one.

But I will stick with my point that Musharraf had very little room after 9/11 and whatever he even managed to get from America then was a salvage of the situation. With the whole world turned against the Taliban regime, with even KSA and UAE breaking diplomatic ties with the Taliban regime, with India openly offering all kinds of support for any American action in Afghanistan (or preferably inside Pakistan!), with the Pakistani economy in one of the worst states after the 'Lost Decade of the 90s', and with the global understanding --with justification-- that the Taliban govt was around because of Pakistan--any 'bold' defiance by Pakistan would lead Pakistan to really really bad situation. Yes, 'bombed to the Stone Age'. Or at least like another Iraq or Libya.

Having said that, I think Musharraf gave away too much to India after 2002 in the hope for the then 'composite' dialogue which ended by about 2007. The Manmohan-Musharraf understanding should be the basis to establish peace in the Subcontinent. But Musharraf's boast about the relations with India were 'irreversibly' better proved wrong. And there are not many people who are explaining what caused the failure of the dialogue and now the lives of 1.5+ billion people of the Subcontinent to continue to be in warfare.

KSA is on a path to irrelevance (its basically already their) and destruction. It is ruled by a kleptocratic family of vile thugs who have managed to do absolutely nothing with their oil wealth over 80 years. What we witnessed in Libya and are now witnessing in Lebanon will be their fate.

As to Pakistan, we have real friends and like minded allies in nations like Turkey, Malaysia, Qatar, Indonesia and maybe even Bangladesh. China is a strategic ally who is more than willing to help us be a spear in the mallu’s back. GOP is correct to find it’s courage and respectfully follow its on policy where our core interests are concerned.

Plenty of options. The situation in Pakistan was dire until about 2014 because of domestic terrorism but now Pakistan has a lot going for Pakistan. The No. #1 issue which ruins third world countries is not 'corruption' but power-sharing between the political forces in Pakistan. And since 2002, Pakistan is having a fairly smooth transfers of power and that is a big, big achievement! For the longest, my signature at PDF used to be something like 'Political instability is the mother of all corruption' and I believe Pakistan has turned a corner as far as power-sharing between groups inside Pakistan.
Add to that, CPEC, slowing down of corruption, more and more educated young people, a growing support by a rising power like China...
As I keep saying in this forum: Pakistan's #1 problem now is water resource management. The rest is downhill.
As long as the Pak Deep Nation and Deep State maintain a good alignment she should be OK...

In geo-politics/strategies/economics/finances/investments/trade etc. there is never a shortage in options for countries like Turkey and Pak, for whom 24 hours is a long time....

I guess I did not make it clear enough, what I meant when I said that a half a million strong Army can be recruited, trained and equipped, I meant Pakistanis. We recruit 500k Pakistani youth between the ages of 18 - 24, on behalf of Saudi Arabian Military, train them, equip them and place them under the command of a serving (or even retired) Pakistani General (with senior hierarchy from the retired Military corp) to serve in Saudi Arabia under their ruler.

This is what they want "under their rule " a mecenary army kill for them die for them . This could have done the way Americans did with them . They did defence agreement to protect saudis by building their bases but the command was well controlled by americans nlt saudis and in return they got unimaginable benefits from rich kings and you never know when their protecting guns turn against them .
So let me modify your suggestion . If possible make defence agreement to protect them and get air and military bases , ask them to pay for equipment , training , forces pays and eveything .recruit and train 500k unemployed pakistanis and build proper military regiments and divisions under command of serving army officers who go their on yearly bases . Also send your pilots on rotations but saudis has to pay for jets and other expenses .
Build bases in riyad ,Makkah , medina and few near border area .
By this way you will have control over makkah and medina and immense influence on saudis and in worst case scenrios Pakistan wld be position to turn the tables in their favor ...

Arabs khokla ho chuke.

They are no longer defenders of Islam and Muslims. Pak decision to move forward without

This is not a personal view. The FM has made this statement as a policy shift. China and Pakistan are moving their relationship up in more deeply engaged strategic partnership. Its a result of that.

Saudis have been dragging their feet on Kashmir and at same time increasing their investments in India. Same with UAE. These two countries for their economic interest are overlooking Israel and India's atrocities and in fact are improving their relations with both countries.

Pakistan should treat Saudi Arabia as a country. Saudis are not doing any service to Islam. They use their influence for their geopolitical interest They get this respect for having the most sacred places of worship. Pakistan must separate places of worship from the country and deal with each individually.
