Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

An analysis of ground clearance for the JF-17B would be much appreciated @JamD .
I stand corrected, that statement was just under Alan Warnes' comment - but the news is disclosed by @SHAH820, at this post #654. I am quoting his post below;
Some tidbits by @Quwa
-Three JF-17Bs are under production, two of which will join the PAF. (Alan warnes via AFM)
-The swept tail houses components for a new three-axis fly-by-wire flight control system. (Alan warnes via AFM)
-The nose was also enlarged to accommodate an active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar, which will be a core subsystem of the forthcoming JF-17 Block-III. (Alan warnes via AFM)
-The PAF leadership had hinted that the JF-17B could see use as a lead-in-fighter-trainer (LIFT) platform within its own fleet.

PS the issue is with spine/bulge elongation which is accommodating fuel /avionics and God knows what

The addition of the second cockpit displaced a good portion of the avionics and electronics in that area, necessitating the dorsal spine. The F-16's spine is more pronounced, actually, but appears more "flush" with the airframe since its back cockpit is not raised.

We should keep multiple channels open

a) WS-13, Chinese Product
a) Russian RD-93 turbofan engine
b) French option M88-2 engine
c) British Option

The whole idea behind JF17 Thunder was , modular plane that can be tested with various technologies and vendors

The Cannopy Shape is big change

New engine ? Tail is different

The scar mark beside cannopy ...what are these ?
JF17SCAR.png

If the scar is related to the new cannopy not sure why it was not needed with the older Thunder design the other design had no such sticking out scars

oic becasue the Old Cannopy opened upwards

Simillar as the F16 Duel Seater

Needs rework in my opinion similar to the Duel Seat F16

The scar marks effect the air flow uneven on one side vs the none scar side

SCARs need to go !

Just needs 1 part , Hydrolic part that opens the cannopy uplward we already have it in JF17 Thunder 1 seater just needs a small modification so it opens a bit more higher like in F16 Duel Seater notice the bar which holds the cannopy is fairly long in length

Great achievement, beautiful plane. people complaining must remember its a war machine, what matters is the performance not the looks. This was probably the best, quickest and cheapest way to add the second seat without sacrificing space for fuel or equipment without changing planes center of gravity and aerodynamic characteristics. I observe its not painted yellow.

It is reported on Chinese forums that JF17-B have made a successful first flight this morning in China.

Congratulations everyone!! This is a great day for us. Another milestone achieved in this highly successful program for PAF.

The plane is reported to feature new 3-axis FBW system.

The first flight is a bit early than originally scheduled, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT.

It's a great plane, will add tremendous capability to PAF in training and strike missions. It's dimensions are exactly the same as single seat version (a few inches here and there don't make much difference) except for slight hump in the canopy area and matching curve in the spine.

Comments on looks and dimensions are not only wrong but very immature too.

Now this looks much meaner than the A model. This one here means business like a gangster.

What do you think @Zarvan ?
