What's new

Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

.
Hi,

Plz Name one single engine aircraft that is available to a 3rd world country.

The F-7 is still an option from what I know, they are cheap and some of them have been built fairly recently. They are also more experienced and cheaper.

For the 3rd world countries that want something better, they could go for something like a Fulcrum or Viper.

You also have to remember, the amount of JF-17's the PAF can produce are limited, and China is more focused on their 5th gen projects and J-10. If some country wanted, let's say, 18 new fighters. It would be quicker for them to get 18 Fulcrums than 18 Thunders, and the Fulcrum is a more battle tested platform.

Once block 3 rolls out and we can produce fighters in larger quantities, only then should we really go for some exports.

Nose cone looks extended.
And it's better looking than a single seater.
Btw no additional hard point in JF-17B ?

F7 is stop gap at best.
Era of that aircraft is gone. Currently Romania operate most advance version and it is still limited by range, radar & payload. Avionics can be updated but structural & design limitations cannot be iron out.......

2nd hand Yes, New Nope.

Our customers don't need Jf17 in hundreds. Their demand is of one or two squadron at best and this is equal to annual production of Jf17 right now. An order of 16 aircraft can be full filled with in two years if separate production line is opened for dealing export orders.

Fulcrum is much expensive to buy as well as to operate. For 3rd World nations, it can turn out to be a White elephant. Above all its Medium weight air craft and most of 3rd World nations prefer to operate lighter ones as they are easy to maintain and cheaper to buy.

Hi,

There are no used / new Vipers available to any third world country in our hemisphere---other than India due to political reasoning. Plus there are massive strings attached.

Jordan was willing to sell them, and I'm sure that Uncle Sam would be willing to sell older models. Even if you can't obtain a a Viper, you can get a Fulcrum instead.

If our customers only need a small number of a Thunders, then we aren't going to have a lot of customers. Countries like Egypt and Malaysia are only interested if they can get a large batch of them. The Fulcrum can't be too expensive if Bangaldesh can operate them.

Well Thunder has been discussed with Argentina & Malaysia. Both deals collapsed.
Confirmed deals exist with Nigeria and Myanmar.
Negotiations are under way for SriLanka, Azerbaijan & Qatar.
All of them want 1 squadron at max.
If it materialize then having 5 customers is not bad at all. Considering the fact that more customers are likely to emerge once Jf17b & Jf17III will role out.
And Bangladesh Operate only Half Squadron of Mig29 and they are buying 8 more to complete it. Its their best shot. They will be replacing their old F7 soon which is currently backbone of BDAF. Very likely FC1 will be one of the options as replacement.

f-7 is no longer produced, other options will be fighter trainers, china recently sold some fighter trainers to an african country

Just because it's not produced doesn't mean it can't be bought 2nd hand.

Nigeria doesn't seem to be getting any, but one deal has been confirmed and it's likely Myanmar. Sri Lanka will succumb to Indian pressure and not buy any, not sure about Azerbaijan. As for Qatar, they can afford Rafales, why in Gods name would they need JF-17's? Bangaldesh is a good customer though.

Mate don't talk about things you don't know about.

Thats like saying why are the Indians introducing the Tejas for combat role when they are buying Raffles. you use the rafaeles alongside jf17's. just like how we use the jf17 alongside the f16's.

Qatar wants jf17's badly and will be the first customers to choose the twin seater jf17b. Even the Saudi's were very much interested in getting some jf17's but they were reluctant on the engines and insisted the jf17's for Saudis have the ef200 engine the same ones they are used to on the Typhoons.

Export wont only rely on production in PAC but Chinese will also produce, remember its a joint product, joint menufecuring and profit sharing.
