I think the media reported incorrectly as we are hoping to join SCO alongside India... not brics

And if the news is really about BRICS then we might be joining as observer and not a full member... it is too much of a diplomatic victory for Pakistan if we join BRICS as full member all of a sudden

Economic power is one thing and geographic representation the other that are the cornerstones of BRICS...Brazil represents America...Russia represents Europe and South Africa represents Africa...and India and China Asia and are future global economic powers. I don't think there will be any change in BRICS. In a way BRICS represent all of emerging markets aganist the developed economies

yeah since SCO meeting begins from 9th and BRICS from 8th....................and without Indias Consent nobody can join BRICS...............Since China & India will be the chunk contributors in proposed BRICS Bank

so wouldn't it be good if Pak joins BRICS as if the pak joins it will be like half of the asia in the organization and just imagine CHINA RUSSIA PAK AND INDIA using each other to do trade Via land it would be out this world from east till west BRICS will flourish like hell ...

BRICS is still in formative years...BRICS development bank was formed last year to challenge World Bank and IMF...I guess it will take some time to accept new members.

By the way Pakistan should seriously try to get into MINT (group of middle powers of Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey), Most probably MINT could be associated with BRICS in future.

Since India is more poverty stricken than Africa and still in BRICS, Pakistan would qualify as well.
