Pakistan to manufacture cellphones, smartphones

s800 billion to Rs1 trillion telecom revenue estimated in the near future.

Pushed by burgeoning demand, and encouraged by examples of China and India, Pakistan has decided to domestically manufacture cellphone and smart phones.

I reported this last year before IK's sit ins. Haier and Huwaei have already signed MOU's and right now, they are waiting for the Phase I of the CPEC to get to a certain stage, so that they can start their firs manufacturing plant to initially assemble and ship laptops and some cell phones. Later, there will be 3-5 plants making laptops, tablets and cell phones.

Punjab has already put in a lot of $$$$ in building IT business parks focused on Mobile tech. So that trained labor and these jobs will go hands in hands. The Pakistan of 2021 will be an entirely different Pakistan than 2012!!!! And the Pakistan in 2025, will have surpassed Dubai without a doubt, from a trade stand point and Mexico from a GDP's standpoint!!!! 2030 or so, Pakistan will be Australia's rival for the 11th or the 10th top economy's spot. Good future ahead for sure.

As always great optimism from you, but often reality is a bit off.
40 percent of IT companies are relocating Pakistan cuz of excessive taxes.
secondly, im still wondering how are they going to actually manufacture something when we dont have any semiconducter or chip industry.

As always a bullshiit based response from you. The ones that are leaving, will be replaced by the ones who'll pay taxes. And the one's that are leaving, will cry with their as* burned. Dubai is an expensive place to do business in from a real estate's standpoint. Pus the labor is 5 times more expensive in other places. So either they can pay 4% tax (still low as hell) or incur 30-40% more operational cost.

Second, there is no empirical data on it. One journalist paid by IK writes a stupid post and all fools go crazy. Talk about Hitler born again!!!!

Third, people like you, will ALWAYS keep wondering "how they'll do it". In the past three years, I've seen this in every thread about the current government. But they HAVE BEEN doing it. So keep your negative, crappy and bullshiit propaganda to yourself and this will happen too. The grounds for semi conductor manufacturing have been paved for the past 2 years. Unlike you and IK, these guys actually move with a plan :enjoy:

Any one who writes against the government is a paid agent hmm i guess thats the new script at the Mariyam Nawaz institute of trolotology :D
Scaring away established players for new startups is a good policy?
UAE is not only Dubai they can also move to other emirates and costs will be higher but UAE is looking for an economy less dependent on oil so they wont let go off new it entrants that easy

this is a great news.
looking forward to this
all the best.

I hope Huawei opens up an assembly or production plant in Pakistan. There mobiles are really high end stuff at half the price of Samsung.
They are fine. Nothing grand.

High-end mobiles of both companies are expensive.

If you wish to experience genuine high-end stuff at reasonable price-range, then try ASUS Zenfone 2.

.
When pakistan solely built something. I think a century is required.
