Indeed.
“We have stopped import of tomatoes and other fresh vegetables in order to protect our farmers. We have enough tomato and other vegetables stocks, which we import from India only in case of shortages in the domestic market,” he told Dawn by telephone from Islamabad on Friday morning.
It was just a political gesture to keep public calm in the time of high onion price. What 10000 tons onion shall do? it is a fraction of per day consumption.
Actually I will be very happy if pakistan emerges as a leading vegetable producing nation. That is what actually I say. Pakistan should not be dependent on other countries for vegetables or fruits.
