Pakistan To Be Out of FATF Greylist

Neither a PML supporter nor a PTI supporter can claim that Pakistan is poised to come out of the Grey List in September/October because of their efforts. We neither entered the Grey list because of our Political parties nor did we come out of it because of them.......in other words, the ones who caused our entry into the undesired club are the ones responsible for getting us out and they worked very very hard to get the 34 / 34 conditions compliant / largely compliant.

Jin ki aap baat kar rahay hain, they did around 20% of the work in the whole project.

Aik Col sahab akar subah beth jatay thay, chaye peetay thay, just nodded to what the bureaucrats said, and then was handed a list of items to do by the bureaucrats.

Un sahab ko apnay girtay huay balon ki zyada fikr hoti thi than FATF action items.

Let me tell you another funny tale. A certain govt department (won't name it) made a detailed report on the action items which were to be undertaken with regards to internal security measures. It was a very detailed report and had ministerial approvals and whatnot.

They sent it to jin ki aap baat kar rahay hain. After a couple of days, when these guys were asked for their input on the matter, they took the govt department's report, upar apna naam chaap dia, and Brigadier sahab agaye to give an hour long presentation on the thing to those who actually prepared it!

Completely negating their role in this would be being dishonest, but let's not say unhon nay hi bas kia hai. PTI, and rather the specific team of govt officials and Hammad Azhar do deserve equal, if not more credit. Not doing that would also be being dishonest.

Off the grey list but firmly in the cross hairs of a sniper rifle of the west loaded with noon and ppp traitors

Achi baat hai agar Grey list se nikal jaye warna "aawain ee tension layi hoe hai"

We were doing terrible before we were put on FATF and we continue to do so... But yeah every little helps so this little effort will have one positive indicator for reviving the economy

Regardless, PTI has done actual technical level work to comply to FATF conditions, although i agree the listing itself was politically motivated, both in and out, because it's an arm twisting tool. That still does not change the fact that PTI gov actually did work in this regard, otherwise exiting would not be right away possible. It was already speculated that Pakistan is being kept for 1 last yr only on political grounds after largely meeting the conditions.
Pakistan's inclusion was in deed political and could have been avoided. However, it was also a much needed wake-up call for us to fix many of our internal issues which we have largely addressed thanks to the FATF sword. FATF President also acknowledged that Pakistan's program was the toughest one in the entire history of FATF Action plans.

I see here that people are giving more credit to PTI than is deserved; Hammad Azhar did a fantastic job of listening to those who matter which ultimately led to the end goal. Most of the credit, I repeat, goes to those who shall not be named for bringing all the stakeholders together and for ensuring that all stakeholders performed remedial actions pertaining to their action plans. It was indeed a team effort led by those who shall not be named and which which it could all have been for nothing.

It is not about doing the actual work but about the job well done. The path was not important, the destination was.

It was the power that be which ensured that all stakeholders were up to the task; all the stakeholders were banded together to achieve this singular purpose which could not have happened without those who shall not be named.

More specifically, as I wrote above, the Col., you are speaking about, and now Brig., worked day and night, tirelessly and with vigor that amazed me to no end. And it was not just at the Brig., level, routine updates were presented to the DGMO all the way up to the Chief. Especially the Brig., he was working over the weekends, long hours, early mornings as early as 5:00 and so on. It was as if he was on duty 24/7.

As for the report, multiple departments provided input to various security measures especially in light of FATF recommendations and NAP so I am not sure which one you are talking about or from which organization. However, none of the organizations had the capability to produce an all compassing report due to mandates of different organizations. But it is sad that NACTA could still not be strengthened to be what NACTA was always meant to be.

Waise I don't recall anyone other than Hammad Azhar and Imran Khan (from time to time) from PTI being actively involved in the matter.

khwaja asif had helped put it in to greylist during pandit biradiraans last stint as the ruling royals of Pakistan
Oh man, how you have hit the nail on the head. Kh., Asif made a major blunder and pissed off the US otherwise we would not have been placed in the Grey List in the first place. If only he had controlled himself for 1 more day, there would not have been an unprecedented 2nd vote in the entire history of FATF to place Pakistan on the Grey list especially after Pakistan successfully avoided the Grey list in the first round of voting thanks to China, Turkey and GCC (combined GCC had 1 vote then which was controlled by Saudi Arabia).

Kh., Asif declared that Pakistan had defeated the voting by the US and India to place Pakistan in the Grey list, which hurt the ego of the Super Power leading to the unprecedented 2nd vote. Ofcourse, this time around the US was fully prepared and Saudi Arabia was offered a full membership for not voting in favour of Pakistan. China than abstained as China did not want to vote in a losing cause. However, Turkey still voted for Pakistan.

Tareen had mentioned to IMF on PTI's plans on where how would they budget for oil subsidies. Surely, one would not expect this subsidy to go on forever. Please check his press conferences.

But some few good men in this forum still refuse to see the light.
This is a lie peddled by Imran Khan on the same line as Russian offer of 30% discount on Oil & Wheat. There was simply no funding available for subsidies especially the ones Imran Khan gave with the dying breath of his Government; especially after committing to IMF that all subsidies would be removed and levies imposed on Petroleum & Electricity.

.
I would disagree.

Imran Khan, had he survived the NCV would have faced the brunt and had to remove the subsidies and increase the oil prices in line with IMF and budgetary demands.

Russian offer for oil was there, whether it was 20 or 30%, that’s irrelevant. The discussions were already in place (letter from Hammad Azhar) and eventually the agreement would have taken place. Refer to Russian ambassador comments. The offer is still valid and Russia is willing to sell oil at discounted rates.
