FIND A LEADER WHO CAN LEAD YOU OUT OF CRISIS
In a society highly divided along ethnic lines it is very difficult, even next to impossible, to build consensus on a single leader/party.

But what do we expect engineers to do when there is no investments in industry but rather continuous de-industrialization of Pakistan during the last few decades. Sometimes I don't understand what is even the reason to spend money on engineering universities and even medical colleges when most of the graduates from these institutes have no decent employment opportunities within Pakistan. The only sector that has flourished in recent decades is the media BS sector of talking parrots, that is where the financial investment has gone in recent decades. Pakistan's economic priorities are more or less ****** up. Pakistani state policy is to produce talking parrots (marasi media people) rather than productive innovative scientifically literate work force (engineers).
Our education is too focused on theory. Unis should focus more on skill building, the students should be guided and aided in setting up freelancing businesses. Offering engg services on upwork etc. Research work maybe done once we have a sufficiently skilled and earning populace wih a good economy. Before that, focus on marketable skills.

About 5th point last week i was going through alumni stats from my university and saw this. The 66.07% figure might not be accurate because not all alumni are registered on this platform especially those living abroad. Furthermore almost every batch mate i know is either studying/working outside Pakistan or planning on leaving Pakistan. This is not a healthy trend but it surely is on rise in Pakistan.View attachment 636905

I was actually talking about my own university. I gave my knowledge as a fact. It's true, everyone wants out of Pakistan one way or the other.

FIND A LEADER WHO CAN LEAD YOU OUT OF CRISIS

The whole point of my argument is that a single political leader cannot change Pakistan with the current set-up. Even if one had the most competent person, the power is too diffused in Pakistan. The Army, Bureaucacy and the Judiciary are exercising powers beyond their constitutional limits, and they plan on doing it in the future. The power is further devolved to provinces after an amendment in the constitution, which has made the position of a national "LEADER" almost useless.

In a society highly divided along ethnic lines it is very difficult, even next to impossible, to build consensus on a single leader/party.

Strongly agree. The situation is even clearer after the country's response to the pandemic.

i personally want people to attack bani gala

That would be a good start only if you attack the ISI HQ, Supreme Court and the Parliament next. There is indeed no justice in being a vigilante. The people of Pakistan only need to understand the direction of their struggle. Which is definitely not expecting something good out of a political leader as his hands will always be tied.

.
Pakistan is much stronger than it was in 1947. Yes, the govt has failed miserably it everything imaginable. The govt can facilitate people to go abroad and send remittances. This is the only option for now. Its up to the military civil bureaucracy to decide what to do.

. .
I gave you a solution and you have started narrating the difficulties in getting the required solution and again starting to doubt the effectiveness of solution without having alternative solution.

The whole point of my argument is that a single political leader cannot change Pakistan with the current set-up.

Only a single leader can do this, ( If you don't want a thing done then refer it to a group of people )

Even if one had the most competent person, the power is too diffused in Pakistan.

Find a leader who is competent enough to rein in the other sources of power ( Hint: ever heard of Musharraf )

The Army, Bureaucacy and the Judiciary are exercising powers beyond their constitutional limits, and they plan on doing it in the future.

Now that is the main problem for the leader to resolve.

The power is further devolved to provinces after an amendment in the constitution, which has made the position of a national "LEADER" almost useless.

Elect the LEADER with such a mandate so that he can change the constitution in favour of its citizens. ( Hint: India recently amended constitution with more that 2/3rd majority. )

OP has indeed painted a very gloomy picture of future of Pakistan

But he has failed to provide a solution. May be OP has not found the cause of the problem which persists with Pakistan.

Clearly PTI is not the solution

IK may be as incompetent as the previous leaders.

SOLUTION :

FIND A LEADER WHO CAN LEAD YOU OUT OF CRISIS

We have lacked leadership since our founders death, what we need and haven't got is a Putin type of leader who is in charge of the country and his main focus is law and order. Right now there is no rule of law it's simply jungle law where the rich and powerful take from the weak and oppressed.

Justice is the foundation that a nation is built on without it you can not function as a viable state. Justice means giving the people their due rights the poor, minorities and women. Pakistan needs a benevolent dictatorship/presidential system with a Putin type of leader at the helm for a good 20 yrs once rule of law is established everything else will fall into place God willing.

. .
Problem with the above is that it is ALL an opinion piece that has not been backed with credible facts which have been referenced.

These are your own countrymen living in Pakistan who are disillusioned and all of them desperately looking for ways to leave Pakistan, They are NOT British nationals living in Blighty looking at Pakistan from thousands of miles away through heavily rose tinted lenses.

You can safely create and live in the fantasy Pakistan, from within the borders of UK, these people ACTUALLY live in Pakistan and they know the truth.

This article is going to be long so please hang on.
I did not post it on PDF magazine because it is too gloomy and does not suit the goody things we want in there. Plus I could not think of any solutions to the problems I mention.

Pakistan: The Nation That Never Became Angry.

The likes of Pankaj Mishra say we live in the age of anger, but when I saw this picture, I could not feel anything. I was not at all angry, I'm sure. . I don't care that he lied to our institutions to run out of the country. I dont care he plundered the people of Pakistan. I now strongly believe that he made the best he could of the system of Pakistan. He is now THE successful man in my eyes. I wish I could be half as calm, contented and satisfied as this man. Indeed he has won the game that is Pakistan's politics.

I have now realized that the only one to be blamed for the ills of this nation is the overall Established System of Pakistan. Now dont think that the picture of Nawaz has got be all hysterical and emotional. I can't be angry anymore. I think the time for the Pakistani people is to become as calm as The Nawaz and assess the situation in order to best exploit it for their own benefit. In order to properly assess the situation, understand that pictures like this just tell part of the story.

One must realize that the judiciary, the bureaucracy, the army and the political elite are all inevitably in this together
. They cannot help but exploit the people of Pakistan. It is becoming more clear, by the day. There can be no justice, safety from terrorists, legislation, representation, peace and equity as long as this system persists. Each and every institution is working to increase their own power without thinking about the people of Pakistan (judicial activism being the newest effort). PTI might present herself to be a noble and honest party , but PTI cannot even offer resistance to the already established system of exploitation in Pakistan. I understand the helplessness of Imran Khan and his workers. IK will die with his dream of changing Pakistan within this decade or the next.

I have been thinking a lot about Pakistan's future in the long quarantine that I have placed myself into, and I have realized a few things.

  • First, Pakistan is now a permanently failed/stuck state. A stuck state means that the political environment in the country is such, that no progress in economy, welfare and provision of justice justice can be made due to very powerful hurdles. Hurdles being regionalization of national political parties in all provinces, the introduction of the half baked 18th amendment, Battle of power between the judiciary, army and the parliament, amoung many other reasons. There has been no legislation in the country since IK took oath and I dont expect any further legislation even after the next election. The Indian, Afghan and Iranian machinations to hurt Pakistan will also overpower Pakistan because they exploit along the already fragile ethnic and sectarian lines.

  • Second, for the young people of this nation, there is no future. They wont be able to generate wealth, raise families happily, get their children good education, and will suffer in this system. I believe that, specially after the COVID-19, every educated person who has a degree is as useless as expecting Pakistan to change for the better. The only people who will survive will be the ones who know skills and craft.

  • Third, In the future, I see that the ethnic borders between the provinces will be inflamed due to increased competition of resources, lack of Pakistani action with regard to Indian water terrorism and climate change. The PPP will keep alienating the population of Sindh while they will still keep voting PPP to retain a Bhutto legacy while in Balochistan, India and Iran will continue their cooperation to bleed Pakistan. The chances of a failing Pakistan in the far future have increased specially after the pandemic. Everyone saw the lack of central authority during the pandemic. The pandemic showed that Punjab does not need Sindh, and vice versa. KPK does not need Punjab and Sindh and vice versa. And we don't talk about Balochistan.

  • Fourth, If one has to survive the anarchic nation of Pakistan, one has to make his way into one of the four institutions I mentioned above namely: The Army, Bureaucracy, Politics and the Judiciary. With a good position in one of such institutions, one places himself in a good position to exploit and plunder the people of Pakistan. My message to fellow youngsters, if you do not do that, some one else will do it to you. A strong recommendation to the youngsters reading this write-up is to sit for the government exams or try for Army instead of becoming bank managers, engineers and doctors.

  • Fifth, I see that in this decade (2020-2030), Pakistan will face a huge brain drain. Every engineer, doctor and service provider will crawl out of Pakistan to have a chance of living a reasonable and respectable life. This is because the lack of industrialization, failing institutions and a failed economy. According to a very recent record from THE top engineering university of Pakistan, 66% of their students (batch 2017 and 2018) have left Pakistan with no intention of working in Pakistan ever.

With all these problems racing towards us, the viability of Pakistan as a state or at least as a functional nation is in grave danger. I do not see any way to avoid the problems as it would require changing perception of different ethnicities, sects and views. How can one do that without breaking the country up? Will all this happen without a war within? Will the people of Pakistan become "Angry" one day? Will that "Anger" break Pakistan into pieces or will it make it into a strong state? The reaction of the people of Pakistan to the failing system in the coming few years will decide whether Pakistan sustains a place on this map, becomes a unified nation under a single authority ( unlike today where everyone is running after power) or a failed state. However, the chances of a fragmented Pakistan have drastically increased after the Pandemic and the 18th amendment.

shhhhhhh.....hamara mulk ek nazuq dor se guzar raha hai.

Don't you dare point the fingers at the Holy above Holy Army and the judiciary.

I would give you positive rating if i could, for not being intellectually dishonest.

Whenever you are looking at any system; look at it's beneficiaries. Why Pakistanis are never angry... because the system de-sensitized them and they actually believe that nothing will change. Or if once in a blue moon someone dare to ask something he/she is labelled immediately; sometimes with grave consequences.

But there is a hope; the reason i am happy about Imran Khan's rise, regardless how much he got supported by the same establishment or not is that if he fails this time around; the narrative or "the churan" won't be sold the way it used to be before. There will be questions asked; and i am very glad to see people have started to ask questions.

It was easy to pin down nawaz sharif or zardari because they were actually corrupt and because of the weight of their own baggage they were easily compromised. But after you give hope and sell a dream to a huge middle class, it won't be easy for establishment to get away with it, the way it used to be.

The problem is that people still are not asking right questions. Nawaz sharif was sent out; people blamed LHC? but ask yourself, is some judge of a high court strong enough to let go of a convict that whole state machinery worked to bring down? Or was LHC only a pawn used to put the blame on and to give Nawaz sharif a safe exit just to be used again later?

Zardari still in Pakistan.. any convictions?

there are countless incidents that were sent for inquiry... and what came out of them?

The narrative is that politicians are corrupt; and i agree they are.. but the question to be asked is what came out of their convictions? is money recovered? any charges? There was this box in supreme court, daba number 26 i believe it was... what came out of it? and more importantly, are politicians the only bunch which are corrupt?

There is a hope; the young generation. They will lead and take away the reigns from the ones at the helms of power. You just need to start asking right questions and call a spade a spade.

The concept of democracy was always doomed to fail. When it can fail in america, britain and france, then it sure as hell would fail here. The idea that some Pakistanis have about democracy is beyond absurd.

To exist for 72 years, divided and chaotic, is one thing. But to have had Islam, been born a Muslim and yet failed to grasp what Pakistanis were destined for. Well that is the saddest part of them all.

The statement in bold is what now I want Pakistanis to do. We have been watching talk shows discussing stupidity and petty politics whereas, the system of exploitation still flourishes. We have been discussing sugar prices on television since the time of Ayub Khan, yet again the sugar mill owners make fool of the Pakistani people just because of one thing : They dont fear any thing from the system.

You remember how Nawaz Sharif started his campaign of "MUJHAY KIU NIKALA?". He was not actually asking the people why he was ousted, he was questioning the system of Pakistan that betrayed him. He was asking every institution of Pakistan one thing: how could they not allow him to continue his mission of plunder? He was not used to of such anomalies in the system of Pakistan. Nawaz was not sad because he was ousted, but he was sad because rest of his friends and colleagues in different institutions, still continue that exploitation without him.

Islam is not adverse to Democracy nor it advocates solely for it.

It encompasses whatever you can invent.

The system in place in Pakistan works. Its just not for the masses as its not a socialist country. Its a capitalist country.
